What to buy?

Looking at changing my Fronty ( a 95 swb 2 litre )and also my Pug 307 estate (on deaths doorstep) , so I will just have one car to use daily, got to be a 4 x 4. Will put upto £5k to the value of the other two, but what do I get? quite fancy a lwb B Frontera but not sure which engine to go for as I do about 10k miles a year. Really fancy a Rangie but dont fancy the costs when it goes wrong . Any ideas please

What sort of journeys do you do for this 10K miles a year??

I'd discount the 2.2 petrol powered B, as it's not the most reeliable of motors. That leaves you with either the 2.2 DTi or the 3.2 V6 petrol. Very nice examples of both can be had for well under £5K, although make sure the fuel pump has been sorted on the DTi. You have the option with the V6 of going down the LPG route too, which will save on the fuel bills without impacting too much on performance or economy.

I'm still selling my DTI pics link to pics of it in my sigy it does need a rear axle doing on it tho. Fuel pump has been done in it. And drives really nice and pretty nippy for a truck

5k would be more than enough for a very nice V6 with a professional LPG conversion.

Jim, I'll do about 6k motorway miles a year the rest mainly rural A and B roads, cheers Martin.

With that sort of money i would go down the route of a V6 with LPG conversion. Very nice trucks and they go well!!!!

Seen a very nice 53 plate V6 at a garage in Sandbach for £2695, only done 50k miles, usual silver colour. Wondering what the best gas conversions are for reliability and economy and cost?
