Advice needed!

Hi

So I recently posted '60 mph shaky ride' and got some good help and suggestions from the forum. Unfortunately I now could do with some more advice as I've got further issues!

The long winded and boring story so far...

Bought my 2002 2.2 DTI Olympus on Monday, Looked good, test drive seemed all good, full service history, 98000 miles & and a reasonable price £2k. Got her on the motorway and noticed the vibration through the steering wheel at 60mph+, was loving the car so figured I'd just get it sorted. That was due to be identified and rectified this Tuesday coming.

Since then I've had a couple of occasions where its lost power briefly but corrected it self almost straight away. The spanner light was coming on and off as well. I got a mechanic to do a diagnostics for me and there where a load of warnings which he put down to the throttle valve actuator not closing, he showed me how and when its supposed to be closed but wasn't and explained that the turbo was trying to over compensate for it. Also the battery light then decided to stay illuminated and on inspection the the alternator was not charging it.

My question to the forum...are throttle valve actuators really £500 and one time programmable? or can you get them second hand to keep the cost down?

The dealer is willing to take the car back and overall it will have cost me a couple hundred quid and an inconvenience, Thing is I really like it and would be interested to know what other forum members would do ie give it back and find another or get her fixed. She is in great nic otherwise and the two mechanics that have seen it have said its in good condition.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Ollie

if it were me id certainly be returning it to the dealer and either giving them the chance to rectify all the faults to my satisfaction ( theyre not going to be able to sell it unless discounting the price in that condition ) or getting a full refund.
WHY AINT I GOT AN ALL SINGING & ALL DANCING SIGNATURE LIKE BOXY & DRIFTY ?
