Got a reply to my ad last saturday, regarding my black v6. Asked a couple of questions by text (no name). then said "i will be travelling from London, payment method.... Do you perchance have a paypal acc for easy transfer. I replied as it was only £1200 i would take cash only, this could be as few as 12 notes. He said cash was ok & would see me next week (tomorrow). I told my friends & the wife, this guy would be a NO SHOW,& i think was just fishing for electronic transfer. Wednesday: received another unnamed txt, just checking that we are still ok for saturday & also asking if there are any other payment methods you would find acceptable. eg bank transfer. I repeated Cash only. I asked tonight what time was his train tomorrow. Guess what folks...............he has pulled out (couldnt get the cash together). Saw that coming

Good call, but what's wrong with a bacs, it's easy and you don't have to carry loads of cash with you.
It was once said that the Devil would never dare to cross the River Tamar into Cornwall for fear of ending up as a filling in a Cornish Pasty.

A mate of mine sold a complete interior of a MR2 and the guy paid by PayPal and came down from Bradford to Hemel Hempstead to collect it. 2 days later he filed a PayPal dispute saying he had never received the stuff and because Marc couldn't prove it, the tozzer got his money back. PayPal doesn't always work in your favour

To be fair, they could have mistaken you for a scammer trying to pass off £1200 in as few as 12 notes instead of the usual 24

Scammers gotta love 'em!
The paypal approach is not new and a pain to sort out when/if you get caught with it.
BACS... One of the guys at work was caught with a neat little trick, when he was 'selling up' to emigrate to the US a few years back!
The buyer was a trader and arranged to view his car, so he turned up and they took the car for a spin, the trader had his mechanic crawl up the exhaust etc etc and they agreed a price! The trader transferred the money, V5 filled out etc and the car was left with the new owner the seller a few quid up! The sting came when a few months later the car finance company called to discuss the outstanding balance .... a bit of a shock! Anyway long complex story short, seems the trader recalled the payment (something he was allowed to do up to 12mths after the transaction) a few days after the sale was completed.
The police were called and they explained that the trader in question was known to them and had done the same thing to hand full of other sellers!
Better to be late than to lie in state! Fronty 'A' - 2.4 LWB - 5 speed. named: Godzilla (it was green!) Fronty 'B' - v6 3.2 ltd - Silver LWB - 5 speed manual.
