Your right Brian i tried to find it last week to put the Gas soldering unit that Aldi is selling on but couldn't find it. I bought one years ago and its been teriffic.
Those stands look good to and a great price!!!!! You could allways make a nice new thread wit all your knowledge.

I'd be weary of those stands. I've got similar design but with the addition of a locking pin to stop accidental release, it has saved my bacon at least once One has to look after ones bacon at all times.

I know what I would go under the truck with 1st choice here or 2nd choice here and it aint the Tesco axle stands, to me those look about right for something like a 1970's Fiat 500 or a Mazda MX5 but not a fronty.

i posted them because there were on offer, obviously there is better for more money but then that defeats a deal thread.

I have used a similar style set of jacks like that for years now (blue silverline ones Stretch has posted). They are solid when pressure is applied. In fact its harder to release them with more weight added due to the design. The pin ones that are linked to I have had issues with before. If they are cheaply made the legs bend and buckle under weight unless you have them on complete flat ground. Good and bad in every example to be honest.

I am with Ratty here....We have load of the 3 tonnes ones with the rachet locking system and they are fine, and have bent loads of the pin type ones before.
Personally I preffer the bigger 5tonne? rachet ones as their extention is more suited to a 4x4 and will reach the chassis with the car lifted without having to be at full reach so are more stable...and they are red, which is loads better too and I have used these helluva lot with no probs...

I bought the trolly jack and battery charger a few years ago from Aldi. The battery charger i bolted in the caravan and i keep the jack in its box in the front of the caravan. Ideal bit of kit to have!

Bought the jack and the compressor from Lidl today, both seem to be solid enough kit.

They will be ok as long as with the jack you don't try and lift the whole of the vehicle like under the center of the rear axle. A wheel at a time is no problem. Don't get me wrong it will lift it its just putting unnessary strain on it.
