Re: Full 'down to the chassis' stripdownAt least once, yes.
An ex-member by the name of Red Oktober took his 2.8 LWB right down to the chassis and rebuilt/painted everything. It was quite involved, and he did a fairly detailed writeup of it, although I'm not sure where on the forum that writeup now is. Jim...

Re: Full 'down to the chassis' stripdownIt was quite an entertaining read, yes. Plenty of piccies, too.
Would have been dome about 5 or so years ago, I reckon. The thread ought to be in the depths of the forum somewhere mind. Greg, I agree mate, one or two things gave me raised eyebrows but on the whole it was a good job. Just don't mention the winch mount, hehe. Jim...

Re: Full 'down to the chassis' stripdownhmmm, intruiging. thx guys
so, the list would be... Nudge bar (done) Front bumper Tow ball bit seats bonnet wheels... and that's it, so far i'm getting there. I'm not sure on the order either. also, have a couple more questions... is £600 dear for two wheels chocks, 4 x axle stands and a trolley jack? has anyone used restoration manager programme? anyone used the stahlbus oil valve? (the reason I'm asking is that I have a base idea, which revolves around the word 'restification'. got it from a magazine a while back.) L
Re: Full 'down to the chassis' stripdown£600 is very expensive should be able to get 4 decent axle stands and a good trolley jack for around £100!

, all good?yeah, I'm off to the 'local' branch soon, but that sgs is defo looking tasty. (I'm also going to look at that engine flush stuff, see what it's about) L
Re: Full 'down to the chassis' stripdownwell, currently, I am at approx. £150 for two chocks, trolley jack (3t) and four axle stands (6t I think (I know 6t is overkill but I went for the height (about 50cm))). Muuuuch better than £600 hehe

Re: Full 'down to the chassis' stripdownRe engine flush and the 2.8.
Some years ago, I did a 'flush' on Truck. Followed the instructions and all that. Drained the flush out, even put some clean oil through and out. Then put the fresh in and a new filter. Took the truck to work as per normal and promptly blew the turbo (the bearings went big time). I only found out later when I took the lower sump cover off looking for any debrie from the turbo that the oil drain went so far into the sump that somewhere near 1/2 a ltre of oil was left in the sump after draining. This flush/oil mix didnt do the turbo any good... This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Re: Full 'down to the chassis' stripdownThat is a problem Frank, you can never extract all the flush because it sits out the way of the drain plug. And to the OP £150 for all that stuff is good but as Retro Pedro said ask if a member close to you has a Halfords trade card? Were a pretty good bunch and wouldn't mind helping out another member!
