Re: My turn now spanner partyWell after putting the car back together the ba5tard rear crank seal still leaks. So it's all get to come apart again. But we fitted two new doors & welded on a new check strap to the drivers side A piller on Ian's truck. And did the two inch suspension lift to robs disco.
Thank you Ian , rob & Brian for helping me out. So I'll have to have another spanner party hopefully my bloody neighbour won't start cutting wood again so all the saw dust won't be blown across to my drive and getting into our eyes. i hate having Dyslexia
Re: My turn now spanner partyAnd a big thank you to Lisa for all the coffees and food. I promise I will drink more of the coffees next time instead of leaving them to go cold

Re: My turn now spanner partyWell My Andytats I have not met you but would love to meet your neighbour on one of my very hormonal inbalance days it could be your spanner parties party piece, you would have to move house afterwards . All I can say is he might be able to spit sawdust with his chainsaw but I can spit blood and guts with mine and his flippin knee caps if he wants be an A.R.S.E. H.O.L.E. don't u just love em.
O and what I was going to comment on was just because the annual BBQ has been pospond this year due to my issues with the council and the land at the back of my house doesn't mean you can HOG the spanner party BBQ theme. chrissy one life, live it.
Re: My turn now spanner partyanother productive day, thanks to lisa for keeping us fed and watered. look forward to the next one.
Re: My turn now spanner partyYou needs the flywheel on to start the engine, the starter engages with the toothy bits round the outside to turn it... You may get away with it with the flywheel on but gearbox off so long as you could bolt up the starter motor. Bit dodgy mind... and I would think that some form of engine mount would be needed to prevent the engine bouncing about and thrashing everything in sight.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck. Comments on 'O-no' the truck may be left here Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Re: My turn now spanner partyYeah ... Dan's (Hipo1024) new seal bust on us the first time we did it. Rob and I spent about 2-3 hours under there fettling away at the crank end with very fine wet and dry soaked in motor oil smoothing it down. Pig of a job when under the car in the wind and rain. Net result was the second new seal turned out fine. One thing we did do was place a block of wood under the throttle pedal and forbade Dan from rainsing the revs of the Truck above 2000 RPM for the first 500 miles to bed the new seal in. This was on a diesel though so a petrol copuld be higer revs. We also forced him to change the engine oil so no crud in the old oil could get under the new seal and ruin it. Didn't want to do it a third time, and Dan was scared of doing it by himself if it did go.

Re: My turn now spanner partyI've ordered the new rear crank seal and another clutch release bearing. Why a new bearing I hear you ask. Well when we did the clutch last weekend the carrier had a little bit missing where the spring sits. It wasn't until the new one was on the we noticed. Then just as we packed up for the day Ian found a spare carrier in his car so he gave it to me. If I get time this week ( depending on how many hours I work ) I'll start to strip it all down again
