So what shall I do?Well I don't really know what to do. Here are the pics of the MOT fail sheets. Apart from the missing body mounts that I know about I don't really know what he means, oh and the normal headlight alinement etc.

Re: So what shall I do?Way too much hassle Andy, and the mutant that is created would be worth bugger all...
Simply Fix it....Pretty much everything on that list doesnt cost, its just time and a bit of effort. Welding doesnt cost much to do, it just takes time. If it was me, I would probably try and get the car on its side so you easily tackle one side and then flip it the other way and do the other side. Drain the oil and clamp the fuel tank breather though... Putting it on its side sounds drastic, but with a second 4x4 and a helper its easy to do, and some strategically placed tyres will prevent any damage and you will find it a doddle to weld up then, and sort the dodgy body bolts. You will have the neighbours talking for weeks to, unless you live in the same road as Andytats where they are used to wierd fronty occcurances. Re: So what shall I do?I must admit I thought maybe buy another swb maybe with knackered engine and swap the engines over etc.
Do you have the time and space to do the welding, if so then maybe that's the route to take. Give the chassis a damn good clean and check for any further rot first.
Re: So what shall I do?I've got a spare MG Midget Body here that just needs a SWB chassis... Slight bit of fettling and I reckon it would fit...
Other wise, if the mechanics are reasonable then I would be getting the mig out the shed. If you gets a shift one, and pull a couple of late nights that shed might even make the laning on Sunday! This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Re: So what shall I do?i would just weld it up..
but get some good plate for it, or even get some galvi plate, it will be fun to weld. but it will last alot longer CARTREK

Re: So what shall I do?Well 1 2 and 3 are a 5 minute job. 4 5 and 6 are what me and Andy did last January just before last year's mot and it wasn't mentioned at all then so I don't know what he was looking at but it wasn't the front of my truck. 7 I don't remember seeing anything but I'll have a better look tomorrow as it's my day off. 8 I think might be abit of crust on the inner sill that I ran out of time for and then forgot about lol. 9 well I'll just remove the bloody thing then lol. 10 and 11 I knew about but was hoping as there is another mount about 3 inches away that I'd get away with it but no... 12 and 13 I can get hold of for about £30
So after sleeping on it and calming down I think it's worth another years mot. So I'l sort out the silly bits and patch up the inner sills. Thing that's bothering me the most is the rear body mounts as I can't see how to remove the sheared off bolts. Then it should pass, but I think I'll ask for a different tester as this one must have rusty glasses on to have mentioned the front body mounts ![]() My 2.8 shorty - now sold, and comments here My old dti - now sold "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW --- What a Ride!"
