storm 2 how bad in your areajust wondering how bad things actually got in the different areas during the last 24 hours with storm number 2?
we had the usual damage to fencing, I heard there was some localised flooding, but think we got away pretty lightly really, the storm is still lurking about but the winds have dropped away a fair bit.
Re: storm 2 how bad in your areaI've pulled a cpl of cars out of floods yesterday. Just going out now to see how bad it is, we still have the storm to hit us properly. Wind is picking up now and the 2 main routes out of the village were both flooded last night.
Thank god for Frontys!
Re: storm 2 how bad in your areaIt's calmed down a lot round my way now... I'm very glad though that I didn't have to take my double decker artic up the road last night, believe me.
Very windy last night & yesterday afternoon, with a few trees down, plus the usual fences, wheelie bins and the like scattered around. Side effect of the rain thous is localised floods in a couple of places; my route home this morning was about 18" deep in one spot, and that had a very decorative abandoned BMW in it at 6am. There was another road with a few smaller flooded patches on, and another car abandoned confusingly in a dry patch between two. I'm assuming the drivers of both don't know how to deal with water like that and have either stalled it in the middle of the flood, or driven too fast and filled the engine with water. Neither should have posed a problem if taken carefully. Jim...

Re: storm 2 how bad in your areaHere in Brittany, it was a very rough night, with electricity going off, then on again several times.
We also seem to have gained half a set of plastic garden furniture from our neighbours garden and Phyllis the Fronty looks like she's had a jet wash this morning, BONUS!!!
Re: storm 2 how bad in your areai hate having Dyslexia
Re: storm 2 how bad in your areaWe have escaped very lightly this time. Just a bit windy and some med rain, a bit persistent though. Nothing like the flooding parts of the town( google Rhyl floods and look at the pics) got earlier this month. Saw scenes there like the end of the world, never seen the sea so high! Feel really sad for those people loosing everything so near to Christmas.

Re: storm 2 how bad in your areafences both sides were down, shed windows blown in, luckily the scaffold that's round our house stayed put, although it didnt sound like it would last night!
also got some minor flooding in the basement but "apparently" the worst part of that was when i was moving my wet tools out of the way i put them in the sofa!!!!!
Re: storm 2 how bad in your areaWe haven't had much at all. I was expecting loads of rain and very bad winds!

Re: storm 2 how bad in your areaBrize / Carterton area I would have described it as a bit breezy with some rain leaving the odd puddle.... Others on the other hand may go along the lines of a full blown tropical storm with a tsunami coming down the hill.
The fence has survived again, but then considering the size of the posts and stringers it's hardly surprising (we used to have the falling over fence syndrome, but I got fed up of putting it back up every other month) I was surprised to find the temp shed roof covering still there though. Had a few puddles to go thru on the way to work this morning.... This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you....
