Head Gasket Turbo DieselI have at the moment a 2.2lt petrol Frontera S reg with 104800 miles on the clock, headgasket went last september, but had it fixed and is still running okay, MOT in july went straight through, My problem is I have just been offered a Frontera 2.2 dti Wreg with 47000 miles on the clock genuine mileage on it, but with headgasket gone, he wants 150 quid scrap value do I stay with petrol one or get diesel one and fix headgasket, possible price between 300 and 500 quid to fix

Re: Head Gasket Turbo DieselIf it was me, I'd have the truck and replace the gasket, cost? Price of a Gasket set, a set of head bolts and a cam belt. Possibly (up to you if you do it) skim the head and re-seat the valves then sell on or just trash it into the mud as a toy.
It aint hard, just a b****y pain undoing everything and then putting it all back together again! This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck. Comments on 'O-no' the truck may be left here Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'Truck' Comments on 'Truck' the truck may be left here Owning a 2.8 is a hobby in it's self...
Re: Head Gasket Turbo DieselThere is a lot of info on here that it is usually the oil cooler that goes on the diesels rather than the head gaskets so would be worth checking that before doing the gasket
Re: Head Gasket Turbo DieselIts very unlikely the head gasket has gone. Especially on such a low miler! For 150 i would bite his hand off, in fact can i have it?
Rule #3: Don't believe what you're told. Double check
