Head gasket failure

Iv never done a head but iv read lots and lots on here .... The guys says it drives just over heat at traffic ...... It's maybe 90 mile back to my house ??? Do I drive it or pretend iv broken down to green flag .....

If the head gasket has gone, then it will overheat as in it "will overheat" to the point that it boils. If he's been driving it about and it seems ok but boils/overheats in traffic or when stationary at the lights then could be a thermostat.

However, it's a 2.2 and they can be repaired fairly cheaply its just the time.. It's your call but I would be tempted to get it recovered ( even if its from down the road )..

There is no point doing any more damage than it may have already..

I would also take the time with the repair and swap out the oil pump as well.

That's what I paid for my 2000 2.2 with HG gone..........4years later and 47000 miles later its still going strong. I'd say its worth a punt, tell them you've broken down and get it recovered.....the less it's driven with a failing HG the better. Get it skimmed and pressure tested for piece of mind. Some on here would say replace the oil pump as well. I didn't and mines fine

I was thinking the same ref thermostat to be honest vaux ,going to phone the chap tomorrow and get the full stairs .....
Technically I wouldn't be wrong getting it recover via green flag as I would technically own the vehicle rite ? Lol
Would be a winter project so oil pump etc would be done
