UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersHello
Out of curiosity can some of you enlight me how much pay for owning the frontera annually..Insurance, road tax or whatever..Also i own a 2.0i but i am interested at 3.2v6 the difference in insurance or other things...Also i heard is very hard for an 18 year to get a car anyway because insurance is very high.. thanks ![]()
Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersRoad tax for Frontera owners is quite simple actually. They're all old enough that they work on the old rules based on engine size - under 2000cc, and 2000cc and upwards.
The bulk of the cars are in the second group which was £220 or so for a year when I last bought one. 2.0 sport models are 1998cc so they are in the first group which is a bit cheaper, although I'm not sure by how much. The other simple thing is the annual MOT test to check for safety. Assuming the vehicle passes, the most you'll have to pay for the test is £54.85, although it's often possible to get it for less. Insurance is highly variable, depending on age, vehicle, driving history, mods, where you live and what you use it for. Young drivers will often pay more for their insurance than the car is worth, because of their inexperience. I'm 33, a truck driver with just one speeding ticket and a few mods on the car, with a 4x4 specialist policy and it's about £300 a year for me. It probably won't change much if I went for a V6, but would be very expensive for somebody 10 years younger. Hipo1024 is the youngest driver I can think of, and he's got a very modified 2.8 SWB. Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersWelll, any Frontera registered before March 2001 will pay the same road tax, regardless of engine size as the cheaper road tax cuts off at 1549cc. This would be £123.75 for 6 months or £225.00 for 12 months.
It's a bit more complex for the newer ones as the tax goes off the co emissions. I'm sure owners of newer fronties will be along to enlighten you. As for insurance, there are some good deals in the UK for fronties used as playthings and I can't really give you any idea on that as my frontie is my daily drive, business vehicle and everything else in between. My insurance is about £550 per year fully comp. Young drivers (under about 21) in the UK pay ridiculous amounts for their insurance, sometimes 5 or 6 times the value of the car they're driving
Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersI stand corrected then... I've not driven anything smaller than a 2.2 in about 8 years, although I could have sworn they were all old enough to miss the CO emissions based taxation.
You live and learn eh? Jim...

Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownershonestly, if I hadn't googled it, I'd have sworn all fronties missed the co bit as well
Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersChrissy just got her road tax Jim and it was £225 for the year mate!

Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersI'm 26 pay 470 a year fully comp for a 2.5 tds and the tax for six months was 120 odd (same as I paid for a 1.8 diesel corsa van I had), believe it or not it was cheaper for me to insure my truck then it was for me to insure a peugeot 1.1!!!!! For me and the misses to be insured fully comp on a 58 plate renault clio (her car not mine) its costs 302 pounds for the year, me on my own, 892!!! Insurance is a messed up area, I also believe us 4x4 owners should get a tax rebate, after all we need the trucks to navigate all the pot holed roads
Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersThe 2.0i is rated aproximately 279g/km CO2 .. For this value it will still pass MOT with a decent price?..The 2.2 have 254 acording to the site below..
http://www.car-emissions.com/cars/index ... ontera+2.2 Now i pay like this: 38euros tax to local authorities just because i own a car + insurance is 150euros (no accidents or other kind of incidents) + road tax around 30euros = 220 euro ![]()

Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersRatCav: Up to now noone couldn't "kick" UK broker cartels in ass with a law or something? This kind of stuff is present in my country too often..An example is electricity..So everyone needs electricity and some "smart" guys go to the producer and buy from them in big quantieties, resell again at higher price to an another intermediary and after 3 third hand WE residential people receive it..Of course is payed at higher value just because every guy in the chain wanted to take it's toll..

Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera owners1800 pounds for a Jimny 1.3l .That's tough for your son..Oh well i am curious how one can get a speeding ticket with a jimny..
I've done my experience on my dad's cars ... The first car that was registered on my name is the Frontera ... Is there a distinction between gender..I mean women should pay less imo. They are on carefull mode or scared mode..Either way i think they make less accidents than the "chest hairs" types..(here i include myself too) How the UK kids get driving experience with that kind of insurance price? Except driving parents cars i suppose is not another cheap way for that isn't it ? ![]()
Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersJust to add to this, my son is coming up on his seventeenth birthday and is looking to learn to drive. For curiosities sake, he went on a well known comparison site and got quotes for my 2.8 lwb as his own car. he listed it as unmodified, worth about a £1000, with a £1000 excess and with a newly issued full UK license. The results were quite unbelievable
These are the CHEAPEST quotes he was given Fully comp, with ESI, £10,598.94 TPFT, with ASDA, £7,341.98 TPO, with GOODGIRL ![]()
Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersNo idea how they can justify that. £24000 could by the truck 24 times
I'm 22 and my insurance is £600 FC. Mind you, it does depend on your insured location as just changing my insurance from parents home (dorset) to work place in bristol it goes up by £450!!!!! Therefore, i just leave the truck back at home until i finish uni this month! Truck Pictures:- viewtopic.php?f=46&t=52932 -:- viewtopic.php?f=46&t=50884

Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersThey do that as they cannot refuse insurance without good reason, but charge a ridiculously high premium to scare you off as they don't want your custom.
Obviously if you go for it they are laughing. ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771
Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersI'm 23 and now that the gender thing has been abolished the trucks insurance, mods declared, 3 years ncd, driving for 5 years, no points, unlimited mileage and covered even on off road sites, and allows me to drive other peoples cars (something that you don't normally get until your 25) costs about 70 a month. Its a 2.8 swb BTW. On the other hand my 1.7td cavalier with no ncb costs about 45 a month. And tbh is far more likely to end up in a ditch than the truck lol

Re: UK Yearly Taxes for Frontera ownersdan dont you mean it it more likly to stay in a ditch once you have driven it there..
