Re: Engine holding back at 2900rpmPull the pipe off the inlet and try it then Andy...It will then be normally aspirated and sluggish, but would eliminate if the turbo is strangling the engine as it will breath straight into the inlet manifold.
Not sure but doesnt the pump open up when its got boost, which would kinda indicate that side of stuff is working if its overfuelling and smoking, unless the probs with the pump maybe. A long shot, but have you checked the exhaust....reason I say that is that the old iveco 75e15's I used to drive at work used to do exactly the same as your truck when the exhaust brakes stuck on in that they held back, wouldnt rev past 1/2 and smoked like hell...could it be the exhaust is blocked/bent/restricted/baffles collapsed? Easy to check, just undo the exhaust at the front and run it "openheaders" to prove a point... Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!
click here for the SE Events Index/links Thread...see all the reviews and whats coming up soon! Looks like I'm in trouble with the Mrs's again... She asked me what I'd most like to do to her body... Apparently "Identify it" is not the correct answer! MAKE IT or BREAK IT! TEAMXTREME4X4 ![]()
Re: Engine holding back at 2900rpmFixed it
Today I took off the exhaust manifold and turbo I found the small pipe to the turbo actuator had a small slip in it so changed that then checked the actuator moves by putting an air compressor on the pipe then Put it all back on and went for a test drive to find it has a little bit more power still not happy with that so checked the diaphragm on the injector pump to find it had some dried mud in there so cleaned that out. Then started the engine and pushed the loud pedal all the way down to find that the inlet pipe collapses when on full throttle so I undone the air box and tried again this time it was fine so done the air box up and disconnected the snorkel and it was fine. So went for another test drive and its now fine. So after all the bloody work of taking bits off and cleaning to find it was all down to the snorkel i hate having Dyslexia
