Isuzu/Vauxhall Pickup - Was I Seeing ThingsBack last summer I'm sure I came across an Isuzu pickup that had the Crew Cab type body but was only 2 doors. At the time it got me thinking but now I've started to look for one it appears they don't exists

Re: Isuzu/Vauxhall Pickup - Was I Seeing ThingsAh, found a picture of an Aussie version, it was similar but the windows in the back were not as tall

Re: Isuzu/Vauxhall Pickup - Was I Seeing ThingsGood point, am hatching a plan as my 2.8 is starting to get really tatty and am looking for a project to replace it. I saw the King Cab last year and the plan is to get to get one and put it on a Frontera 2.8 chassis so its on coils etc, shorten the Frontera chassis so the rear wheels are at the back of the cab, chop the end of the chassis rails flush with the rear wheels and trayback what's left. Mount the fuel tank above the axle and add a few lock boxes for the recovery gear to give a bit of weight over the rear wheels
Am hoping the wings, front panel, lights, bonnet etc off the Frontera will fit so it still looks like a Frontera Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one
Re: Isuzu/Vauxhall Pickup - Was I Seeing ThingsI've got a "king truck" , but its an abbreviation for when the kids are near me
Re: Isuzu/Vauxhall Pickup - Was I Seeing ThingsWhy not just chop a lwb down into a pickup pal
If you cut one down the B piller and added the B piller back from a shorty youd have a similar toy, theres loads breaking for the bits IF ITS NOT BROKE, YOUR NOT TRYING HARD ENOUGH!!

Re: Isuzu/Vauxhall Pickup - Was I Seeing ThingsThat is an option but its a shed load of body work mods I could do without. To make the project easier was looking for a King Cab. Cannot see any advertised on eBay/Gumtree/Autotrader/E&M etc so they aren't exactly falling off the trees

Re: Isuzu/Vauxhall Pickup - Was I Seeing ThingsI might be able to get my hands on a brava cab rear section Yaki...then just leave as much of your rear doors as you want for the king cab bit

Re: Isuzu/Vauxhall Pickup - Was I Seeing ThingsGregster: That sounds like a good plan B, gonna spend some time looking for a KingCab first and if that fails look at the Brava option
Ideally would like to end up with a wheelbase between the SWB and LWB Frontera so I don't lose to much of the stability but can get around tighter sections. Hoping to do some more punch hunts and give trials a go and the LWB struggles cos of its bulk. Losing the rear overhang will help and so will a few inched off the wheelbase Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one
Re: Isuzu/Vauxhall Pickup - Was I Seeing ThingsI think you might struggle finding a kind cab mate...all isuzu pickups make good money export, hence my chevybravafing going, so chances of finding one are very slim...combine that with the love that the minitruck boyz have for them, and finding hens teeth would prove very easy by comparison.
I could source a lwb shell and cut and extend it, even paint it if you wanted, down here for you mate. Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!

Re: Isuzu/Vauxhall Pickup - Was I Seeing ThingsThat sounds about right, wasn't expecting to be an easy job to find one, not in a huge rush, have garage to finish first but if i don't find one in the next 3-4 months then its time for plan B
Will keep your offer in mind, sounds very tempting Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one

Re: Isuzu/Vauxhall Pickup - Was I Seeing ThingsLawrence: Yes a Brava would do but really looking for a King Cab model, not sure if the Brava came in this layout.
I do have reasons for wanting a King Cab as opposed to a normal cab or crew cab, the main one being with a King Cab you have room to stash your kit behind the front seats, with a normal pickup cab you don't get this luxury. If I am shortening the chassis then a crew cab will be too long, could modify it and shorten the cab but there will be enough work in this project without going into major body mods. Re: Isuzu/Vauxhall Pickup - Was I Seeing ThingsDidn't the Forestry Commission and the AA use crew cabbed Bravas? I'm sure I saw a Forestry liveried one in the Fort William/Inverness area the other month.
