2.2 dti, is it any good?

Looking for another swb, ideally want a 2.8 but seem very hard to acquire so next Option is the 2.2. What are they like, will mostly be used for off road use. Any other lumps I should look at?

Ask STEVD hes got one with 200k+ on and doesnt take to much care of it and its still goin strong pal..

Have a 2.2 DTi LWB. Cracking engine with a good pull. Drags things around like the arent there most of the time. Other than a service and a few other consumables mine has been on the button engine wise. Always better to find one that has had the fuel pump replace if you can. Yet to test its mettle fully offroad but the little bit i have done it has swallowed up, seems to run up steep inclines like they arent there... From what i have seen they are no less capable than a 2.8...

if it is mostly off road do you want a swb or lwb?

Only interested in swb really. Have no need for Lwb really. Glad to hear that about the 2.2 as the 2.8 is not easy to find.

Ive got a 2.5tds and I think its awesome, good on fuel even if I do run it on chip fat!!;) and pulls well, also not had any probs off road, and I'm not one for holding back!!

Yes, but the 2.5 powered SWB is even less common than the 2.8 SWB.

Got to admit, I'm struggling to find many diesel shortys within budget and distance. Found two 2.8's but both are nearly 200+ miles away!!

The 2.2 dti's are a good bit of kit! And have loads of powerrrrr lol. See some of the vids from last years annual to see what they can do. The 2.8s only real advantage (and the reason I sold my DTI for a 2. is that it has no ecu...so oops...that puddles a little deeper than I thought isn't such a problem as long as you have a snorkel . Also as said above...on the 2.2 DTI look out for ones that have had the fuel pump changed recently... Other wise budget an extra 500 to get it fixed as and when it goes fup lol
