Re: East Anglian Spanner Party 6th AprilThe hose arrived last night and I've just picked up the gaskets.
I must say the hose diameter does look tiny but I suppose if it's got to create a vacuum it doesn't need to me too wide. See you all Saturday. Andy AKA Kotch "Every man and every woman is a star." Uncle Aleister.

Re: East Anglian Spanner Party 6th AprilHi
I thought I posted an update here earlier today but it doesn't seem to have worked. (Ah, I didn't realise the thread had run onto a second page :? ) Anyway, I picked up the gaskets this morning and the vacuum tube arrived yesterday. The tube looks a bit small but suppose it's 3mm and it doesn't want to be very wide to make a vacuum. I've had another thought, I might see if I can get hold of a cigarette lighter socket. I've often thought about installing one in the boot somewhere and it would be really handy to have one to power my inverter while I'm on the road. If anyone has any experience of this it would be great if I could put it in on Saturday or at least get some advice on where to put it, where to take the power, etc. I'll e leaving at 8.00 on Saturday, ETA some time after 10.00. Re: East Anglian Spanner Party 6th AprilVery almost Neal
Start by ensureing the filler cap is the currect one and that its seal is working as it should. Now find the fuel return pipe near the fuel filter, theres a rubber section thats connected to a steel section, just undo the clip and pull these apart, attach your inflator to the tank side of said pipe, I use the cone shaped adaptor (meant for airbeds and looks like this http://www.towsure.com/images/products/ ... aptors.jpg) that came supplied with my inflator to wedge in there goodnpropa. Turn the inflator on, now either straight away or when you start to hear a high pitch buzzing/whistling sound you'll need to get under the back of the truck and just above the rear axle facing backwards is the tank pressure relief valve. Just get some1 to hold there finger over its vent. Then at the fuel pump, with the ingniton in the ON position press the schrader valve middle bit in until fuel starts to fountain out. Then crack the injector lines one by one until it starts, once its started quickly reconnect the fuel return line by the filter (suprising little comes out, just a few drops) and let idle for at least 10mins to ensure all the air is expelled Can all be done in about 10mins, largly depending on how much fuel is in the tank, and how fast your inflator is ![]() My 2.8 shorty - now sold, and comments here My old dti - now sold "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW --- What a Ride!" Re: East Anglian Spanner Party 6th AprilSounds easy enough then. I am sure we will cope. Even if I get someone to blow down it

Re: East Anglian Spanner Party 6th AprilBlimey! I just read that techi stuff and, as it's going be done to my truck, I'm glad it was here as I wouldn't have had a clue what they are doing otherwise. Surely context is everything.
Anyway, I've got a boot full of beer and chocolates for guys and partners depending how we want to distribute them. Anything that you cant reasonably drink on the day (what with driving and stuff) feel free to take away and drink at home. If I spot a convenient sprupermarket on the way I'll see if I can buy some doughnuts. "Every man and every woman is a star." Uncle Aleister.
