Re: land rover defender vs fronteraOuch
Hope your okay I think the insurance will right that off as an uneconomical repair. That said if they do and pay you out you can buy it back for peanuts and just replace the doors and have a wedge of cash left over in your pocket Ste

Re: land rover defender vs fronteraThink you will find that the word defenders was surplus to that sentence..

Re: land rover defender vs fronteraThought Id update you all.
Car was wrote off, valued at £3250 so I bought it back for scrap value of £510. Was in a hire car due to snapped spring so it put the boot up the womans insurance arse the womans insurance decided to pay out in full for my car, which was a bit of a shock really as they thought it would go 50/50, they havnt actually admitted liability but it cant be a bad sign as the guy from my insurance said they usually only pay 50%. Now have two new doors(second hand) and a new spring fitted, only problem is the trim is black on the doors so will have to sort that. ![]() ![]()
Re: land rover defender vs fronteraI didnt think springs would snap like that. Have you checked with the supplier of the springs because that could of been a bad batch of springs. There could be more frontera's on the road with them springs on and will need checking.

Re: land rover defender vs fronteraI was working in my driveway last wednesday night and a car went past with a clunk. Piece of spring ended up almost next to me looking like that.

Re: land rover defender vs fronteraI was reading yesterday that taxi firms spend hundreds a year on replacement suspension parts due to poor roads and potholes. Not surprised at all. How many people here have had to replace broken leaves/springs ... especially on trucks that are used off road.
Mark as always it is good to hear your customer service and quality of goods are second to none. I don't think for one minute Andy was having a dig. ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771
Re: land rover defender vs fronteraYour right Neal I wasn't having a go. I just thought mark would what to know just incase there was a problem with a batch. I know his spring are good because I had a set of them.

Re: land rover defender vs fronteraI have no doubt that the problem was not the spring itself, the impact was on the drivers door, but the defender continued to scrape down the side of the car impacting the wheel which is what I believe caused the spring to fail.
Hell I'm surprised it didn't do more damage considering how the bumper(steel girder!!) Is on a defender. Its good to be driving my car again after a month and a bit unable too, missed it!!
