Help Needed

Saw this nice shiny Frontera for sale recently. immaculate inside & out, & like a teenager with a hard on I went in too struck to see what I was doing. (Some people never learn & sadly I'm one of them). Anyway, I think the ends are knocking. Getting played by the seller & need someone who knows these engines to look her over & give me the full picture. Maybe I'm mistaken, but if not It would be nice if I had something written from a qualified fitter in case I need to go legal... but If that's not possible.... Someone who's got Frontera's in their blood would be good, just so I've got a starting point. I'm in now whatever, Still struck by the beauty & only want go one way. Just need to know the best way of getting there. I'll obviously meet any costs & take any taunts of "You idiot!" square on my shoulders.

if am not mistaken the the y22dti lumps dont suffer the same problems as the y22se (petrol) lumps, the dti's hate there diesel pumps and regularly eat them self's up. I'd be surprised if the bottom end had gone on it. If you are concerned take it your local Vaux dealer and ask them for an opinion, there say is more likely to stand up if you do take a legal route. If you are happy with the truck and its just the bottom end that has gone then just get a rebuild on it and save the hassle of it all

Yeah... Thanks for the reply... I think I'd come to that same answer inside myself. These trucks have definately got a certain appeal... something I'm realising even more just by reading the love you guys have got for them. I hoped to get a new-ish one a when they were still current but life went in the wrong direction. Got one now... looks like I need to keep absorbing these pages & teach myself 'how' on a few things. Thanks gregster... I've bookmarked his website. seems to have people all over the south of England use him. Good reviews. It'll be helpful to know what's what. Don't want anything to die that could be saved by early detection.
It's quite a trot over that way but a nice day out can't hurt.
