oil additivesso whats everyones opinion on the best oil additive ? Ive always used Wynn's but just wondered if anyone can recommend anything better ?
Re: oil additivesMolyslip engine protector in the engine and gearbox (one bottle in each) and molyslip gear protector in the diffs (Unless you have an LSD, in which case that's a bad idea) works for me.

Re: oil additivesDon't bother. They are a waste of time at best and at worst promote engine wear/damage. I work for a large diesel manufacturer and we won't recommend any. Stick with good quality oils and frequent oil changes.
Re: oil additivesSorry mate I totally disagree Molyslip reduces wear and protects all metal parts. A guy on this site lost a sump plug and still managed to drive home without damage to his engine only because he had put Molyslip in it. everyone has their own opinion. All you have to remember is change the oil after a couple of thousand miles as the filter will have done its job and now become US. It makes the engine quieter aswell. Older vehicles can benefit from such additives. There are a lot of members on vehicle forums that do recommend oil additives and those that don't.

Re: oil additivesIm sorry but the guy who say's claims of running with an empty sump are frudulent is a dickhead as we know its happend and Ste was with the bloke who did it. And since the start of these additives they have been developed to be better than when usin parafin! Technology has moved on in leeps and bounds since the first development.

Re: oil additiveswell ive just chucked molyslip in mine and the difference in engine noise is remarkable . you can hardly tell its running now ,and yes i have checked that it is actually running (it been a 2.2 after all).
will probably be doing the head again shortly ( it been a 2.2 after all ) so will let you all now what the engine is like when i get to see inside it again

Re: oil additivesJust read this post and back in about 1992 - 93 I was living in west bromwich & working in rugby 70 mile round trip traveling every day, car at time a 1990 montego turbo diesel on part synthetic with slick 50. Basically had timing belt changed of a friday picked up sat morning sat afternoon oil light on
