Who can solve this one (My van)Citroen Relay HDI 2.2 ....... Last week dropped a gear to turn a corner, then no power & lots of black smoke. Still runs & starts when switched off just wont rev high. New egr valve, egr solenoid control pump, all is good for 2 happy days.

Re: Who can solve this one (My van)If it's the same engine found in a 2001 Peugeot Boxer diesel then from personal experience......fuel filter
May not sound right, but I had a company one in 2003 which did exactly what your describing. It was pouring out black smoke big time. Turned out to be the fuel filter. Dealer was able to diagnose over the phone too so must be a common problem. Got it towed into the dealer who fitted a new filter straight away and no more black smoke or loss of power. Was back on the road 10min later. Traffic lights in London are just rough guidelines
Re: Who can solve this one (My van)Intake butterfly sticking or spring come off
Re: Who can solve this one (My van)Cheers Guys for the usual good advice. I was thinking fuel related, as it goes in wee bursts. Will have a browse tomorrow.......whats the betting its piddling down

Re: Who can solve this one (My van)how old is it as if it new ish and running the 2.2 hdi/ ford engine not pug engine the could need ecu resetting for egr/ download i havent worked for pug for 3 years now but we had loads of downloads and replacement egr valves when ford engine come out.
pug engine would go fuel/air intake ford software/egr
Re: Who can solve this one (My van)it should be the pug engine then check the inlet butterfly if it loose then thats the fault there are also to actutors the work on vacum they are under the big cover right at the top of engine bay two 10mm to get it of one does egr other does turbo i think. these vans are a pig to diag as they are a mix pug engine fiat body
