Re: Speed camera ??id say you were driving if you have been driving longer than her it dose not hit your insurance as hard as it dose her's. I got 3 from a copper sat on the bridge over the express way in runcorn
Re: Speed camera ??70mph speed limit ? frontera 2.2i ?? no points on my licence
you are allowed 10% + 3mph to allow for an inaccurate speedo so in theory should get away with it. Personally, i would tell her the police got in touch with you and have offered you the speed awareness course , get her to give you the £80 and then you have some money in your pocket and 4 hours away whenever it suits you . ( a full tank of fuel and four hours to go laning lol) AND you get to give her grief for it ![]()
Re: Speed camera ??Was thinking about taking the hit on my licence as Iv no points ( but that's not 100% legal and wouldn't be something that us law abiding people work do ! )
£80 and a day out sounds good to me , lets hope it doesn't land . It was in the Peugeot , I wouldn't do 70 mph in my frontera I value theblock to much to spit another con rod through it ! ! !
Re: Speed camera ??to be honest i don't think they care as long as the points go to someone an they get the money for it am not 100% sure but i think there automated from the number plate on the car. if 1 drops though u can ask for a pic, if they don't have 1 you can say i don't no who was driving chance are it was me. Or you can say 7 other people have access to the car I've asked them, threaten them with violence and no one is admitting driving if you can provide me a picture i will be more than happy to give the details of the driver. 95% chance of it being dropped as there is no evidence to use in court
Re: Speed camera ??Didn't work for me, they sent a photo that was clearly me driving, together with all the calibration, officer's training stuff all the stuff you ask for.
They are obviously wise to all the tricks now. It was once said that the Devil would never dare to cross the River Tamar into Cornwall for fear of ending up as a filling in a Cornish Pasty.
Re: Speed camera ??I think the " road safety " vans are council run so not sure they will be as on the ball !
Re: Speed camera ??Carlisletiger is about right regarding the tolerance allowed by the "Old Bill" to take account of a dicky speedo. But that doesn't mean that you can go charging around the place at 36 mph in a built up area and hope to get away with it.
I did get caught by a fixed camera a couple of years back; I knew the damned thing was there, I pass it almost every other day, but this particular day wasn't off to a good start. I went to make that essential first cup of tea of the day and found that the kettle was broken, so it was off to the local supermarket to buy a replacement. I was so desperate to get that first cuppa down my neck that I passed the camera on my way home at just under 40 mph and just caught a glimpse of the double flash from the camera in my rear view mirror. I opted for the one day "speed awareness" course rather than having to tell the insurance of the points and suffer the hike in the premium. If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is.
Any similarity between prototype and production equipment is purely coincidental.
Re: Speed camera ??Hey fellas what happens over your side if you contest your points and lose? Do you get your points and fine or are both doubled?

Re: Speed camera ??I think they have to have it sent out to the registered address within 14 days.
The obviously have longer with hired cars, vans lorry`s etc as it goes to hire company then to the person who has hired it and so on. But Im almost possitive it has to land on your doorstep if you are the registered owner within the 14 days as I said. If you have been caught with the mobile camera you will find out very quickly as its all basicaly done on a day to day basis. Think you will probarly get away with it though (hope so anyway) as said in previous replys, chances are your speedo is out and your allowed up to 10% as also said. Think the cameras are usualy set about 79 80 mph hour on a 70mph limit. Good luck

Re: Speed camera ??Still no ticket gents !
Re: Speed camera ??My Frontera , & my Daughter's, (like many 4x4) read 10%+ min. (12%+ at 30 mph!). I now have a Terrano which is even worse! Until I got a Tom Tom & realised how slow I was actually going I'd gone through several speed traps without being 'done'. Of course then I speeded up to compensate & had a few close calls, well you do don't you. I now have a Tom Tom that warns me of speed limits & also beeps/clangs annoyingly so I take notice of that instead of the fantasy speedo. Trouble is when I change to my Astra the speedo is almost dead-on but I still make the 'allowance' as if I'm in the 4X4, hence I did my £80 penance last year LOL..or not.
My Daughter now has a Discovery (yuck!) with a more accurate speedo & will be attending a speed awareness course (£80) next month........told her not to buy it.
