How deepWhat's the deepest water I can take my 1995 2.0 frontera sport? It has 16 inch wheels I use it to go shooting and to get from one field to another requires crossing a river or going a loooooong way. The river os probably 8 m long but the depth varies depending on rainfall. Any tips for a smooth crossing?
Re: How deep2nd gear low range, create a gentle bow wave .
2ft I guess would be around maximum, although re routing the intake would make it more suitable for fording (or fitting a snorkel obviously)
Re: How deepThe manual recommends max wading depth as 300mm but as said by Si a bit of fetling at the air intake could easily increase this substantially and give peace of mind.
For the record the air intake is behind the drivers head light just so you know to be careful Water proofing the electrics with silicone spray would be a good idea too, remember there are a lot of electrics behind the driver and passenger kick panels. Go too deep after some modifications and you get a wet bum I took the carpet out and replaced it with rubber Ste

Re: How deepThank you for your help. I like this site!
At a shoot yesterday I got a bit perturbed by a guy who said he ruined a frontera by taking in water. I'm sure he overlooked it though and went in too fast
Re: How deepThis might give you some idea. This one was standard.

Re: How deepThe standard air intake runs from the airfilter box via a small section of pipe through to the drivers side inner wing, as mentioned behind the headlamp. The opening from where the air is drawn is in the wheelarch. Make sure the wheelarch liner exists and is in place as it prevents water splash from entering the breather intake.
