Re: Traders insuranceYou need to be a full time trade for one they are getting realy fun with them they sell u the insurance then you have a bum and ur not insured as you dont turn over 30000pound a year or have had 50 cars. The small print is what you need read
Re: Traders insurancenot always true as i have a traders policy and i only do sales part time and told them this so my turnover is very low
have been with my company for 2years and had no problem so far .( insurance factory )
Re: Traders insurancePart time policy's are available, but a lot of company's req proof of trading nowadays to stop people just taking out policies as a cheap way to ensure several vehicles or hard to insure stuff. Policys are riddled with clauses too, as to what you can have on there, I have to phone up and get it approved for anything exotic that I drive. Also its worth noting that your car NCB can be used to get a trade policy, but a trade NCB cant then be transferred to a normal car policy. The best you can hope for is a kinda company car driver type introductory discount if any.
They only pay out at trade value to and you rarely get windscreen cover or anything. Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!

Re: Traders insuranceI just need something that will cover me to pick up, drop off & transport a car that I will work on ( not owned by me) also any that I buy to fix, store etc.
Not looking to do loads, but part time policy looks good. Will check it out. Cheers Fronty B, 2002 3.2 V6

SAINSBURYS insurance mate, im insured fully comp on the megan and the policy allows this. Been pulled a couple of times so i know it works. IF ITS NOT BROKE, YOUR NOT TRYING HARD ENOUGH!!
STRATA 2012- WE CAME, WE SAW, WE KICKED ITS ASS! (even if it got wrinkled in the bombhole!) BAR STED LANE 2012- BEEN THERE DONE THAT! NEXT....
Re: Traders insuranceI have a part time traders policy as I have other business interests so this is not my primary source of income anymore and I have no issues getting cover, in fact I just renewed a few days ago. My policy covers me for Customers Cars (i.e. if I'm carrying out any form of mechanical repairs) any vehicle that I have for sale and my private vehicles (excluding my motorbike) all on the one policy.
I currently have a Tradex Policy that was bought through the Broker, Clegg Gifford. Their number is 01733 569555 if you want to give them a call for a quote
Re: Traders insurancethat will be fine if you keep books and turn over to show you have work on the cars you are driving i did have a trade insurance when i worked for a main dealer. to do the odd job and take for mot had for 2 years then started ringing around to find out if could get it cheapas was 1300 this year and got hit with loads of info saying i should not have one and if i had a crash they would ask for proof of trading (books). i was with tradewise and they will let you have a part time insurance. if you are doing it and willing to do self employed book you fine. if not i would say dont do it only need to have a bump and opens one big can of worms
