Took the Fronty to 1850m altitude

Postby MrWolf on Mon Sep 10, 2012 2:38 pm

Went for a trip this weekend to visit the tallest mountain in Norway. With it followed a trip up a pretty steep, winding road taking us from 550m to 1850 within a couple of kilometers. Supposed to be the highest altitude road in Northern Europe. Nice little final run in for my rebuild 2.8. It held up nicely with steady temperatures and no loss of fluids!
Pictures below :-)

Well done by the Frontera! unless we go to the Alps this is probably as high as it will get. And I don't think the Fronty will do very good at the Autobahn.. :-)

Brilliant and stunning views, I reckon you could cut a steady 85mph on the autobahn easily with the 2.8

You where very close to 8000 feet and you would have felt the effects of altitude sickness at that height, but as you rose up quickly you may have still suffered mild effects at that altitude 8)
The good old turbo would have helped get the air into the engine :D

Wow!! I am most impressed and jealous in equal proportions!
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful experience, one which I can only hope to re-enact one day in my own Frontera!

Thanks :-) It was a great weekend. A truly stunning piece of road with beautiful views. Truly amazed by the way the Fronty tackled the height as well. The old mechanical pump and the turbo did the trick nicely. My parents followed in a Subaru and they only reported of minor amounts of black fart when changing gears and picking up from the toughest bends. So I guess it's properly sound running now and I have got the diesel pump pretty well set up.
