Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWOff to the woods again soon for another day.
Yesterday was a little wet (torrential rain for a couple of hours), but it did make it interesting in the woods....a little slippy and a few stucks but lots of fun, and I got to escape the clearing for a while and went out in Lara with Jim...great fun. Today should be different again as no rain...so should be dry.
Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWwell what can i say another great weekend thanks to greg and sally

Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWWell im Back....and can I just say thank you to greg and sally for another great weekender lol. Had a great time as always
Here are the pics...vids to follow shortly hehehehe Jim found a new place to change a tyre...at the expence of a drop link Tara flexed out...and "stuck"...altho greg got it out...I had hoped he was going to get tara out instead of his builders bum And the BLG having a rest after....well what can only be described at being raped lol - videos to follow that'l explain everything My 2.8 shorty - now sold, and comments here My old dti - now sold "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW --- What a Ride!" This vehicle runs on 100% recycled dinosaurs
Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWHmm, yeah, that wasn't a bad job of parking I'm doing well at getting a vehicle that's theoretically impossible to get stuck, stuck.
I forgot I had both front hubs locked rather than the usual one, then found I couldn't steer as well as I needed to coming up from the stump garden. Slipped sideways during my manoeuvring to get the right line. The drop links and shock, etc are fine, it's just that the trailing arm has had it. Oh, and she crabs a bit now That aside, I had a brilliant weekend as ever. Been looking forward to this for a while and it didn't disappoint. And now, 300 miles later, I'm home and have retrieved the doggie, we'll continue... As I said, I really do look forward to these meets, they have a slightly different feel to them from the Annual Meets, probably down to the rather intimate nature of the camping area. I've yet to miss a weekender, even when the BBB was off the road I went up in a "normal" car to play. Soo, thanks first and foremost to Sal & Greg, for the hard work in getting these things off the ground, and thanks to everyone else who comes along and makes the atmosphere what it is. Nice to see Gem & Stretch and Tara down the woods for this weekend, the car looks a little different to how it did a few weeks ago when I got Stretch from Winchester railway station to go and have a look. Green, lifted and on Special Tracks, she's like a sister to my Lara, only with (mostly) straight panels Gem commented a lot on just how much traction and "go anywhere" feel you get in that car even with auto hubs and open diffs. Special mention to Horses45 & Audra for making the trip down with Reese in the 2.8 & caravan - the most northerly attendees so far, unless I've got my geography wrong. Great to see you guys, and thanks for reprising your role as FOG Chef Hope the rest of your holiday down south goes well... So another excellent weekend, just what the doctor ordered; I've had a thoroughly smashing time, and while I may have slightly broken the truck, at least it's nothing fatal, and it gives me the opportunity to get up and put in some spanner time on my girl. Wilberforce out; the dog refuses to come near me cos I insult her delicate sense of smell, so time for a shower I think... Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWAnother brilliant weekender thanks to Greg and Sall as always and to Rob for keeping everyone fed. Tara performed beyond our expectations apart from the anti roll bar incident thanks to those who said "You don't need that" and helped remove it. Wench had a good time apart from giving Tara her first TWO! bumps.
Boy had a whale of time as always and thanks to everyone who entertained him/took him on ride arounds and plyed him with coke and doughnuts etc lol Hat off to Neil who I think managed to molest 4 2.8's and rid them of their birds nest's Pics to follow soon

Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWVids as promiced....poor PCs been on all night and day uploading them...
Greg showing Jim now to do it - After we had removed Lara Then on our way to save Gem in Tara Greg unstucking Tara Gem trying again Greg taking the p!ss by doing the above secion from outside the car - prooving most (if not all ) the ability comes from the car hehehe And a inside view of what happens when greg takes the BGL out - dont try this in a daily driver lol My 2.8 shorty - now sold, and comments here My old dti - now sold "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW --- What a Ride!" Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWGreat vids Dan, cheers for the upload.
That first one, it was the very tree Greg clouted that was what I was trying to avoid. If I'd only been in 3WD I'd have been fine as I'd have been able to steer... Jim...

Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWBig thanks to Greg and Sally for yet another blinding weekend.
Plus another big thanks for Jim (Wilberforce) for trying out my winch. (worst stuck again) Nice to see a new face to the woods horses45 glad you could make it, and see some old faces coming back Ross and Dan.
Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEW*yawn* ahhh, it's good to be home but sad not to be in the woods!
Finally home with a cuppa after a slightly longer trip home than planned - set off in convoy with Robfog & bobbinsjob and entourage but we hit a problem on the M20 towards the M25 as bobbins' clutch seemed to give up the ghost After what seemed like 15mins cooling down, on a slight incline the truck only rolled back when attempting to set off, so recovery was called. Rob & myself offered to take the girls back home as it was just a slight detour for us. Last I heard was about 3 (I think - lost track of time!) that he'd been moved to Dartford/Thurrock services by the traffic wombles to wait for collection home - hope he's home okay now though! Anyways, due thanks to Greg & Sally for hosting us once more, horses45 for an amazing gourmet selection every day (even this morning!) and great sense of humour, and for everyone's anecdotal stories, advice and general comraderie I'm amazed how awesome my truck's coped on it's first adventure offroad properly, and on the steep steps we encountered on the green laning trip! Can't wait to head out with you guys again sometime. Now I've got a little list of 'to do' things on my truck though which'll keep me busy until the next woods meet! Pics to follow when I'm back on my laptop! Don't confuse your books:

Shame to hear about Ian I do remember his clutch smelling a tad over the weekend. Just heard that him and viper got home in the end all be it on the back of an AA truck.

Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWI reckon bobbinsjob has saved fortunes on fuel over the years by getting recovered or towed home from various meets all over the country!

Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWWell, I finally got home about 630pm after the clutch on Viper said "NO" to the hill of death on the M20
one slide bed, one transit and one more slide bed later, got home and unpacked the pikey van and had some scran. Thanks to Greg and Sal for another great weekender, the whole family really enjoyed it, (even the 2 eldest girls---told ya so), great to see Rob n Audra again and everyone else We also really enjoyed the laning trip that fudge and robfog arranged (tho unfortunately rob couldnt go on it as his back was giving him jip) fantastic lanes, great scenery, a monumental lane at Wroxham water going up the steps, and another one with a magic railway sleeper that jumped out into fudge's truck (hope the steering aint that badly damaged) Doing the wood run with Greg and Reese last night gave me an opportunity to really see what viper is capable of as with a trailer load of trees and an already shiny smelly cluctch, I went un the hill, took a wrong turn and found myself in the axle twister but made it through unscathed. Big thanks to greg aswell for taking Jodi and Holly for a white knuckle ride in the BGL, I could hear the screams from my truck 20 yards back Finally, a genuinely heartfelt massive thankyou to Rob and Pete, who, after my clutch gave in on the M20, without hesitation, offered to go out of their way and safely get Maria and the girls back home. I owe you BIG TIME. Once I've sourced a new clutch I will be starting a Spanner Party thread if anyone's interested. Maria got a few pics, will upload them when we have a few minutes SIZE DOES MATTER!! Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWGood on yer to Rob & Pete, always nice to know there's gents out there who'll help out.
Shame you went home on the back of an AA truck again (you're getting something of a reputation for this now, that's 2 clutches you've goosed in recent memory??) but I'll do my bestest if you put up a spanner party thread, I've done enough gearboxen on 2.8's now that I have half a clue. Incidentally, if anyone feels like mailing me the MemoryMap route for the laning, I'd be grateful. Jim...

Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWGlad you made it home OK Ian - fingers crossed it's only the clutch plate and not the DMF - that said, that's still a pain.
Thanks to Greg and Sal for putting the weekend party on - having looked at the replys sounds like you all enjoyed yourselves. Was good to say my hello's on my return in the Fronty, howbeit short lived, but that's another story. Cheers to Dan and Rob for helping out finding where my motor was leaking Would have stayed later, but daughter was going out Saturday night, so if I didn't go when I did, I would have been catching a bus to Tun Wells. Hopefully, will be up and running again for the next picnic
Re: **Weekender in the Woods 24th-27th Aug** REVIEWThank you again to Greg and Sally for hosting another fab weekender. Im so glad i dosed up on pills and made it down even if i couldnt eat rob's fab bbq
Every time we go to a fog event or meet it still fails to believe me how everyone will do anything to help each other, its so great to be apart of it, even if i did get some ribbing for getting stuck and greg getting her out, and for being girly about Taras first fun wounds lol Had an amazing time and Tara was just made for those woods she's exceeded all my expectations and more. Hopefully next time ill feel well enough to go laneing as that would have topped of the trip. Kinda feel guilty that Jim got stick, maybe i shouldnt have teased him earlier about getting the 'most stuck award' 3 times in row Sorry Viper broke down Ian, glad u made it home safe and of cause stretch (and me if not working) will come help at the spanner party. Lots of pics in this FB album, couple from the spanner party getting Tara ready for the woods too. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 90ebe76a79 really wish the summer was longer and we could look forward to another camping trip, Not sure how we're going to keep leland quiet until the next one, he didnt want to come home! Thanks to anyone who looked after / chatted / fed him lol Sorry to anyone he bugged while hungover lol Stretch's Wench
