Re: LWB Fronty ?b series dti gets my vote, not that im biased because of Ceb but he really is super, hence buying a toy so we dont end up trashing him as we want him as a nice family car .

Re: LWB Fronty ?Depending on what you want there are loads of the 2.5tds on preloved for around £1k thats not that far away you need a passport for, some of them to be in fairly good nick too.
Its a shame you dont want a swb v6, i know where there is one of these for £1500 locally.
Re: LWB Fronty ?rob if you want a try mine for a weekend then you can borrow it and see how you get on with the comfort of a limited b series with all the toys lol. cheap to run and great fun lol
cheers

Re: LWB Fronty ?Our other car is a diesel passat 1.9 115 bhp sport estate. NOT what I would have chosen but we were offered it by a friend so cheaply it seemed silly to pass it up.
It does over 50 mpg and goes very fast from 0 rev's lots of low down torque. I struggle to find a design fault with it, it is a seriously capable car. I am blissfully happy with my 2.5 from greg and can't believe I am allowed to have it again. I had the passat (now my wifes car) for 6 months. I was blissfully happy with my 2.3 as well. Not sure how to advise, you have had a 2.5( good heating remember? and goes just fast enough for the wife) and have a 2.8 so maybe you want to try something else as you have had experience of both. Ive not had a 2.8 but if the 2.5 packs up I might look for one. I don't like the shape of later Fronteras. I am dreadful at making decisions and sometimes don't decide but let circumstances decide for me. Even when I have decided something I go through agonies as to whether or not it is the right thing to have done. Good luck Last edited by jmc on Mon Aug 13, 2012 9:52 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: LWB Fronty ?Personally i'd recommend a DTI, I love mine fits everything in it for family holidays and bikes on the roof or used to collect a 6 chair dining table set. Still capable off road and even only today happily pulled a 3.5t freezer lorry out of the mud. I like the refinement of the DTI over the other variants plus leather seats air con and push button 4x4. Suspension lift is also cheap.
Re: LWB Fronty ?You have your 2.8 SWB as a toy, having the family and all that i would look for a large family car preferably estate not 4x4 that returns excellent MPG, plenty of space and tows well.
My personal choice would be VW Passat or the skoda octavia 110bhp or 130bhp 1.9tdi diesel varients. Excellent tow vehicles, plenty of room and exceptional MPG even when towing fully loaded, plenty of torque, quick and loaded with goodies.
Re: LWB Fronty ?to be honest ady i have looked at a couple of passat's and a few golfs , but my back door on the truck has just stuck again and the bloke up the road just offered me £750 for mine as it stands so looks like she might be going bye byes as at the min every thing is getting on top of me mate so looks like a good chance bobby's going to be stripped down by a land rover owner , still dont know why he wants it but money is money

Re: LWB Fronty ?Really Rob?? Surely by the time you've bought a 2.0 and tyres for it, plus all the other little nick-nacks, you'll have spent about the same as you'll get from the 2.8 sale.
Sticking tailgate isn't exactly a big issue to fix either - clean and lube the locks, mechanism, etc and Bob's the relative of your choice. Jim...

Re: LWB Fronty ?Personally I would go for a B series 3.2 V6 on LPG if going Frontera as a family car.
Failing that post 1995 (Mk.III) Isuzu Bighorn manual 3.1TDi manual, or post 1995 (Mk.III) Isuzu Bighorn manual 3.2 V6 on LPG. Only issue with any LPG is if the LPG tank is in the boot. Chews up load space. ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771
Re: LWB Fronty ?no you hang the lpg tank under the boot like on mine then you loos no space at all and just have to add a bit of extra protection for it if you go off roading lol
