Re: Silverstone; I'm going to risk it...Depends where you are coming from but if heading from Northampton way this is what you do, drive to towcester, then take right to wappenham next to mcds follow signs to syresham. Park next to the pub, either walk from there (along the a43) or max 20 minutes walk, no parking fees and no hassle. That's what we did last year and it was a piece of p@ss. There is zero parking in Stowe, silverstone or whittlebury.
Failing that dont know where you will park because they arent using fields until sunday as just to muddy, there latest update at 20.15 said dont arrive and expect to park, if you have been told otherwise then that seems strange...but hey your decision. UPDATE 20:15 Silverstone are strongly encouraging fans with public car parking on Saturday not to come to Silverstone tomorrow, 7 July. Unless spectators have PRE-BOOKED park and ride or are in local campsites and able to walk to the circuit we strongly advise that they do not attend the qualifying day of the 2012 Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix. The reasons we have taken this action is due to the fact that we have lost some of our car parks today in the awful wet weather that we have suffered over the last weeks, and, in particularly, the last 36 hours. We must do our very best to protect as much of our car parking as possible ahead of Sunday.Fans will be refunded for any unused Friday or Saturday tickets and full details on how this will be handled will be communicated early next week. Re: Silverstone; I'm going to risk it...If you're parking on grass, select 4wd before parking so all 4 wheels are pulling you out.
What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??
Re: Silverstone; I'm going to risk it...I went, I parked, I got bl00dy soaked, I watched some F1 cars, I got even more soaked, watched them go around some more then left. Got in and out with no trouble, traffic was ok, parking was in a carpark that was a grass one that had been covered with hardcore, lots of hardcore. Arrived nice and early and was prepared to be turned away but the staff were great and we even got parked for free. I know they closed the carparks about 15 minutes after we arrived and that they had filled all of the carparks, they then shut the A43 (I didn't use the A43, I know the routes through the lanes) and turned people away. Was great day other than the weather.

Re: Silverstone; I'm going to risk it...Went over to the circuit this morning at 7 to pull my daughters car out of the staff car park field, everything was slippery to say the least. There were a lot of 2WD that were going nowhere fast. Took her back this evening for her night shift and had a faceoff with a BMW X5 as to who was going to give way on the muddy track, Fronty 1 BMW 0, oh and for all their millions of pounds worth of technology their still cr^p in the mud.
Going back tomorrow after the race to lend a hand pulling cars off the campsite (unofficial campsite). While we are on the subject of campsites, allegedly Burnie Eccleston has blamed the unofficial campsites around silverstone for the debackle that ensued over the camping. In actual fact it was the circuit campsites that were shut down for health and safety reasons that caused the problem, the unofficial sites took in as many dis-affected campers as they could to ease the situation. The site I'll be helping at is jam-packed full (3 fields) over 800 car/campers/caravans to pull out. At the moment there is 7 tractors and my 2.8 shorty, we's gona be busy bunnies. Cheers Stuart Remember, keep the greasy side down!
Re: Silverstone; I'm going to risk it...Great stuff, if i can help let me know i am almost as close to there as you.
