Looking at a 2.0i Sport

Hey........ I'm looking at getting a Vauxhall Frontera for off road. Always had Vauxhall's that's main reason for looking at the frontera's have built a 2.0 16v Nova currently have a Astra J Sport's tourer and Corsa D So looking to add another Vaux lol, But with it been my 1st Off road vehicle only really wanting to spend around £1000 to be honest and see how much i use it/enjoy it, Was just hoping you guys could point me in the right direction and what i should be looking out for? Model type etc...

Youll be better off on here as everyone is friendly, there are loads of meets and if you cant find the answer to a question about your fronty on here then you must have a ford with a vaux badge!! .

Yeah i did mate, already watching 2 of them. Will be near the Vauxhall Frontera 2.0i Sport the blue 1 on Friday so will go have a look at it i reckon Yeah made it over here! Thanks for the point in the right direction

Soon youll be joining in and gettin covered in sh1t out on one of the many trips on here .
Were heading to wales for the weekend next mnth again, its a right laugh n you can really enjoy the truck n the scenery n just relax, well almost!

As above looking at getting a 2.0 Sport to get into abit of off roading etc. 1 I've got my eye on is just under 100,000 miles R Reg 1997 what should i be looking out for etc?

Manifold bolts- make sure there not all snapped as they do.
Engine n Box- obviously, no banging, crunching n smoking.
As long as its runs ok mate there pretty reliable really, that will be a coiler on that plate mate too. So which one you after??

well as for me i would go for a c20 (leafer) as there is less electronics to go wrong in them
and you can get a good c20 for about 500
mine has never let me down yet. and today just did 350 mile trip.

you are allways welcome to come to a SE picnic and look at the other guys ones and go shot gun in them. and they will show you what they can do

Whilst your looking winty have a quick look at the bulkhead from within the engine bay. Your looking for splitting around clutch and brake master cylinder areas. Known fault on the Fronty - not the end of the world if it is split, because they can be welded or plated but it will give you a good bargaining point.
If what you are viewing as been used off road, check out the front diff is not smashed - again repairable but it's bucks and time.

Ref: lookin at the bulkhead for cracks from the engine bay your better of looking in the cabin as the bulkhead is double skinned and the crack normally happens inside.
