Re: how much have you spent ?I was lucky with my toy, Lara.
Was spotted by a fellow member just down the road from me. Cost £250 or so for the car, plus £130 for a clutch kit and an afternoon spent fitting that and bolting the gearbox back on. Aside from that, about £300 or so for the Special Track tyres, £70 I think for the AVM hubs, and then some beer tokens to Greg for welding up the differentials. Jim...

Re: how much have you spent ?The B+E on your driving license maybe?
If you're towing a Fronty on a trailer, the trailer will need to be braked, and you will need to have the necessary driving license categories for it. However, that's a discussion for another section - there's gobs of information on towing legalities in the Towing/Camping area. If the toy is road legal and you're simply driving it to and from events, then of course that's not an issue. Jim...

Re: how much have you spent ?In which case I'd recommend sorting it.
If you've moved, changed your name or similar and haven't told DVLA within nanoseconds you'll be fine if it's done reasonably quickly after the event, but there can be up to a £1000 fine if the address on your license is not the one you actually live at. Anyhow.... ![]() Jim...

Re: how much have you spent ?I am up to about 2500 now and think theres about a 1000 to spend.
I would say 500-700 on a truck 100 on a 2inch body lift Between 50 -350 on suspension lift 150 -400 on tyres And you will have one good truck If you look around and are lucky you could half these prices
Re: how much have you spent ?Too much, lets see, over 7 years
Ive had about four sets of new mud tyres and a set of ATs all equal about £1100. Two sets of extended shocks for the rear £250 at least, two sets of shock for the front £150 at least, one set of coils £80 (years ago) Steel wheels £70 About £700+ in brakes discs/pads/ starter motors/alternators/wheel bearings/ball joins/track rods and a gearbox, all of these expect to replace when off roading. This does not take into account the dozens of things I have swapped and bartered and all the oils, filters, greases, lubes and fluids she needs Then there are blood sweat and tears, Even my wife works out cheaper Ste

Re: how much have you spent ?£400 for the car
Probably quadruple that on bits and bobs over the past 3 years But don't let mine or other peeps spend but you off - putting the smile on your face playing with them is priceless, well nearly priceless. For starting off my book would say a cheap suspension 2" lift (coiler: spacers or maybe a certain flavour of Land Rover springs for starters - leafer: rear shackles as said). Manual locking hubs for front wheels - if they've got stock, Milner off road do new ones for reasonable money. Tyres - 31" thereabouts - keep an eye on ebay 'offroad tyres' - talk to fudge - he's had plenty of experience in that field

Re: how much have you spent ?£1450 for the truck five years ago,
£100 for exhaust, £100 for cam belt, £140 for sill weldings, £320 for tyres, £300 for ecu repair. £2410 over 5 years = £10 per week. Don't smoke, don't drink, so please, let me keep my Fronty. Kodiak Transglobe 2.0 SWB

Re: how much have you spent ?I have to discount the respray as that was a flight of fancy, and to be honest the stupidly sized wheels and tyres with the Gregster touch, and buying my truck in the first place as it was a gift from my mother who was convinced Banshee was worthless and due imminant death (stupid stupid old mare
Being honest though I reckon the following costs are realistic. Good clean truck with tax and ticket - £500 Suspension lift: Coiler: 2" springs - £80 Leafer: 2" lift Shackles - £50 (I have a set in my garage, and material to make more) 2" Body Lift - £50 31x10.5" R15 Wheels and tyres - £100-£200 (depending on your luck and patience on Eblag) Other than this the rest is just throwing spanners about at a spanner party (usually held at mine for the East Anglian Possey) Random sundries like replacing tools, nuts and bolts, spares, pipework for raised air intake etc - £100 All in at worst your looking at around £1000 from empty driveway to well prepared truck that will still be comfy enough to use as a daily drive. Obviously you don't need to find all this up front and it can be done in stages. Some of it may not be necessary, for example the body lift is a nice touch to give your toy that big and meaty feeling, but not overly useful as you will only need the extra room under the arches when going quite extreme and need the most articulation you can get. Hope this helps. ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771
