Sorry to be thick but i snapped a bolt on the exhaust down pipe today where it joins near the turbo.
My question is this the bolt i need to remove is not 10mm and not 11mm and is not hex either it seems to be like a torx bit but on the outside instead.what is it called please so i can buy a socker as i need to remove the peice behind the exhaust to fix broken bolt.

Welly a slightly smaller socket onto it with a lump hammer, the thumping will shake the rust loose and it will (maybe) then come out.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered )Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... thought about that but the way my luck has been i will probably make the roof fall off hitting it.
I have looked on ebay and i have these sockets but mine dont seem to fit on. I have half inch drive and quite large stanley sockets,would a smaller drive 10mm socket be better??

make sure the socket is the hex type n not the other multi point type!!

i use a 8mm wall drive 3/8's drive on mine to be fair i use wall drive for all the bolts saves skin and blood
and the dreaded rounding of heads but the 8mm fits emmust get it mucky

wall drive is 6 sided socket same as the standard hex bolt head
must get it mucky
