How strong is my roof?

Hi

I need to reach up to prune a small branch off of a tree next to my drive. It's only small and my loppers would do it but I can't get up that high. However it's right next to my Fronty. How strong is the roof of a Frontera B series? I notice it's got ribs along the length but I wonder if they are just cosmetic. If I were to stand on it would it support my weight (about 11 or 12 stone) without buckling? Alternatively what if I were to put planks on the roof to spread the load?

Any ideas?

It's an LWB B series, 2,2 diesel if that makes any difference.

Wouldn't be me relying on the sheet metal of the roof - those ribs, if pressed in the roof sheet, are probably there to cut out resonant vibration of the expanse of the roof.

However the planks idea is a good one.
Spread them crosswise over the rails and I don't envisage a problem for the time needed to lop a couple of branches.

Admittedly I drive an A, but there's a roofrack on that which I've sat on quite frequently. By using that, or the rails/planks, any weight is being applies were it was intended to be, rather than the expanse of thin metal roof panel.

My two daughters very often sat on my roof. In fact at the previous annual meet they were both on it along with one of Houndogs kids.

I'd put a scaff plank across the roof rails and stand on that if it were me.

or rachet strap a ladder to the tow bar/spare wheel.

I have got the roof rack bars in the shed so I might try putting them in a position so that I can stand a pallet across them.

i have stood on my frontys roof a few times to lop branches off trees and also to get to my stable roofs to paint them but usually put a plank across lol

i regularly use mine as a platform but i would recommend stick something across it i weigh best part of 18 stone and it will take my weight but i ten to stick to the edges and then only to get on and off the ally plank i use as a step across the rails and just strap it on the ends to make it solid
