Mig/arc ???????

Everything in place to weld my sills up ! But Iv been reading and a lot of people are saying don't bother using a Arc welder on ya car use a mig :-/
Iv a arc ( I'm not to bad on it , wouldn't say I'm brilliant but not bad )
Or do I buy a mig ????

from past experience..and I admit that i'm not great at welding..I found that a MIG was easier to use on the thinner metal of a car, it made a neater finish...the arc was a lot harder (for me anyway) to control, as in blowing holes and leaving great piles of what could only be described as bird poop.the Arc however gave a better weld on thicker metal..but that might just have been my own lack of training / talent..Gregster is probably the man to ask, and i know Bobby is a dab hand..

Well tbh I would mig ( not using gassless stuff)
But if you have the little rods and a half desent welding set you should get the same on arc as gassless mig, since that is really a arc set with a continus feed of wire

So get a propper mig set (gass one) or some thin rods
Or uf you can borrow a gassless one do so. But I wouldnt say to get a gasless

I was thinking gasless because all my welding is done outside ! Again from what Iv been reading gasless is better in the wind ( Scottish weather ) than gas !!!!!!
Or am I reading a load of chuff ?????????

Gasless is ok you just have to be a bit more careful as it runs hotter so a bit more likely to blow through, and can be messier. As you say if your outside gasless is a better option. If your in a nice warm workshop out of the wind, then gas Mig is by far the option for you. A lot of hobby gas Migs can be run gasless with a wire change so that might be a better option still.

Im a welder and id never use stick (arc) to weld on a vehicle, id always use MIG or TIG, gasless isnt that good eather in my opinion, id always opt for MIG with gas, stronger better welds that look better.

im a welder as well by trade and have used stick more for welding on mine
but it is all down to what you feel like doing.
but gassles mig is just stick on a real. so i would say a very thin rod would do the same
all i say is get some scrap and play and see if you can handle it

Fair do's pal, ive just got full access to my welders at most times eather in the shop at work, my mates garage where theres also a ramp , or down at the lock up behind my mates boozer! . I just find the MIG quicker, easier and that it leaves a good finish without any messin. Just my opinion tho chaps

As Danny say's mig better on a car doesn't tend to blow through like an arc. Arc not very good on thin metal! Also with mig you can get away with it not being all totally clean!
