Laning on the Saturday

Laning on the Saturday

Postby Fatbaz on Thu Mar 29, 2012 2:12 am

The route plannned for the Saturday is a long one, it covers a "Banana shaped" loop to the east and south of Northampton. If the whether stays as it is you'll be fine on A/T's maybe even roadies. However some bits are rutted, a couple of lanes are liable to peal your paint alittle and one could be a squease for a LWB ( a 110 defender and range rovers manage with care and skill). To get it all in we would be leaving the site by 10.00 if not before so that we are back in time for the BBQ. Your responsible for your own lunch and snacks though we can usually sort you hot water for tea/coffee (bring your own cup and makings) ( I don't want to be laning around Tesco/Sainsbury's). A working CB would be an advantage (for banter and road instructions) but not essential, you'll just be deaf.

Should anyone need to be extracated from the myre the driver of said stuck vehicle is responsible for his own recovery point and connection to it (don't think we'll be gettting stuck). Most important of all is to have a great day.

We can also do some local lanes on the Sunday (about 2 hours worth) or the Saturday lanes all over again or a section of them.

Regards

Put your name down in a group I should think Gary. Same for you Dave.
As a side note, if I can have the MM overlay and come up with a satisfactory way of securing my kneetop in the truck, I'd be prepared to lead a 3rd group.

Can I come... although I'm thinking as a passenger with a camera (rather than a driver).

Would prefer not to be a gate opener/closer though (bit awkward with a camera around my neck).

Can bring own coffee supplies, smoking prefered (but not a deal breaker).

Offers accepted.

Think that's cos Jellybaby just said 'yes' rather than picking a group, Ian.

I also will have spare seats if anyone fancies it. Plus I have the camping stove and now legendary (at SE meets at least) coffeepot to make up for what gate duties i don't do myself.

And as a final final, my spare portable CB will be coming too, not a long range affair, but ideal for chatter in-convoy for those without a rig.

Stick me and the boss down for the sat trip please, don't mind what group. And thanks for the reminder ref CB, guess what's going in tommorrow lol.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck.

i think we need another leader as 7 in a group is a bit of a no no. If you want to stretch it to 6 in a group I will move to group 2. ((we can also keep Ze Germans where we can keep an eye on them     just joking))
