Virgin can anyone tell me how to do it ??????

Hi guys im taking my truck to Frickley soon but ive never been on a 4x4 day out or ever done any off roading. Is there anything to look out for etc. Also my truck is standard is there anything i can do cheaply to help the day go smooth and keep it alive ? Dont want to spend loads getting it ready as if i do and i find out on the day its not for me then ive not lost anything......... But if i like it im going to go mad on the truck

If you don't like the look of something, don't do it. If you can, have a walk around first, see if there's any water around and see how deep it is .... as your truck is standard you will need to be a bit careful around water. What tyres do you have? if your just doing occasional off-road I would suggest a set of AT rather than full blown muds.

Enjoy it and don't be afraid of scratching it...if there's lots of mud/water try to wash off the radiator asap afterwards.

If in doubt ... don't do it is the best advice. After your used to it its surprising how much these trucks can be put through. I am still learning and I am convinced that these trucks have far more capability than the average sphincter will allow you to do.

Thanks buddy didnt even think about washing the rad afterwards. At the moment the truck has AT tyres. What about water getting in the cab ? is it a idea to remove the seats and carpet ???? Im not planning on going in deep water mainly to play in the mud. What about breather pipes etc ?

you'll be suprised what yr truck will get thru in 2wd but as long as youre on loose or slippy stuff you can keep it in 4wd.

As for water, your air intake is in the wheel arch so no wading above that and slowly, enough to build a bow wave.

as the others have said, have a walk round, watch others, and dont do it if you aint confident. just enjoy yourself

dont worry about your door seals they should hold i buried mine see pic below i buried mine half way up the doors in clay sludge and water for over an hour while we dragged it out and the door seals held well on mine.

just make sure they are all shut and your windows wound up.

if you are on grass, mud, shingle or rocks, one wheel will slip. its just tarmac and concrete that will cause wind up

your on about the bottom of the front boors looks like no rubber feel under neath the seal is half way back on the door as if you look at the step it is double seal on bit inside one bit out side.

you don't need to strip the interior out.....may want to have some paper mats/towels for mud on your boots.
The axle breathers on the Fronty are pretty long and appear to work well, you shouldn't have any problems with them

First thing to do if your goin there mate..... order a head stone!!
Ive been to frickley a couple of times mate and you need to keep your wits about you, it can be a truck killer! The pond is quite deep and full of the stickiest of mud, my mate sheared all 4 half shafts on his disco in there n he had about 6k of mods on that, it also killed another of my mates cherokee, although we got that outside so the very nice AA man would tow us home after a few bottles of water n couple of sponges from the garage up the road .
But after sayin that its a good place to go playin! , and if you take it easy youll really enjoy it, just try not to get sucked into stuff as i always seem to do!
