Propane vs butane ?

Ok my wife a little horse rug washing company , to dry the rugs they are put in our caravan ( stripped out to allow use to dry them )
She uses a wee calor gas heat to heat he van ! Question ! - 13kg bottle of butane is £26 - 47kg bottle of propane is £68

What's the difference and could I use propane on the calor ( yep , will have to lay the bottle down due to size , can live with that me thinks ) ......

Propane burns much hotter than Butane. The Calor heat might not be compatable with Propane.

DONT lay the bottle on its side when your using it, you will force liquidfied gas out which is not clever...and very dangerous. Bottles must be stood upright as the liquid is heavier than air and sits at the bottom of the cylinder and gasses off as the pressure is reduced from use. Butane flame is actually hotter at the point of combustion, but is crap at lower lower temps where propane wins everytime. Also propane regulators release gas at a much faster rate than butane ones. A cubic metre of butane has a much higher calorific rating than a cubic metre of propane

Another advantage of propane is that butane freezes up at a higher temp...so if you are doing stuff in the winter, be it caravaning or wotever...propane is your best bet.

Propane gives you higher fps in airsoft guns too

Go for the 13K Propane cylinder and Propane Regulator.
You will also find that Butane gives off fumes that can make you drowsy/sleep.
Propane does NOT!
I found this out when working as security on building sites.
Propane- made my strikes. Butane- missed the lot of them! ( in the land of nod):lol:

ive been using propane in the red/orange bottle for the last 12 yrs with no problem
the lowest temp ive been out in was -12 one new year at cromer an had no problem
