Noise abatement

Hi All

Just got a postcard from the local council, some spinelees soul has taken it upon themselves to complain to the council about my fronty alarm going off. And they're right it does, intermittantly when the weather turns cold and everything freezes up (or unless I don't turn the interior sensors off).

Why the interested party couldn't come round and register their issue with me directly as a good neighbour would is beyond me. I think it's the same household that complained 2 years ago about noisy teenagers having a musicless party in our back garden when my oldest went back to Uni. 20 teenagers laughing and joking and generally making the girls squeal as a one off isn't a case for complaint in my book.

We've owned this address for 10 years or so now and until the above complaint and the current one we've had a clean sheet, even through the build of my first truck (2.5 years, 2004 - 2007) where I was burning the midnight oil and beyond with angle grinders, hammers, jigsaws in 1mm and 2mm sheet and the general din of fabricating a space frame and panels all with the garage doors open and even on the drive (gets light about 4.00 in the summer).

all they had to do is knock or see u or yr mrs on the road and say jokingly yr alarms starting to annoy us now and u wud say sori al sort it ,,all u have to do is say nothing to anybody about letter and wait to see who mentions anything about yr frontie alarm or letter ,,they will give them selfs away hopfully

People are reluctant to complain to others face to face anymore. They are afraid that they might be greeted with a punch in the face. Far safer to phone/write to the council and get an anonymous non-confrontational complaint lodged.

Find out who did it and then PUNCH EM IN THE FACE!

Sounds like someones after you turning the alarm off so they can then nick the radio/tools etce out the truck mate. A quick call to the local bill may be in order, they (if they show any interest, which is unlikely unless, well just....) could then find out who put the complaint in and go round at 05:00 one dark, cold and wet morning (I always found sunday mornings had the best effect for the f*** about wake up call ) and enthusiastically serve a search warrant on them looking for nicked gear.

Last complaint i had against me i went door to door accusing everyone till i found the right numpty, then made twice as much noise as i did to start with. (200bhp corsa with sports exhaust,before, 220bhp with straight through no cat and no middle box stainless exhaust ) the next complaint came from them directly as a knock on the door.

i wouldnt recommend doing it this way as most the neighbours hate me, but, it got the job done and now when anyone got a problem they come see me directly.

Yep, fix the alarm is the obvious option, I would if I knew what was causing it to go off.
