Chassis Number

Can anyone please give me an idea where to find the chassis number on a 1999 5 door UK diesel Frontera. It is now part of the MOT here in France and must have this stamped on the chassis. I have been looking but can't find it.

Hi there i think it is on the chassis beside the drivers side rear wheel

On the A-series (up to mid 1998) the chassis number is indeed stamped by the O/S/R wheel...
Looking at the side of the car, if the bonnet is on your right hand side, then look at the chassis rail immediately underneath the rear door.

Unfortunately I don't know for certain if it's the same on B-series models, but somebody ought to.

Thank you both for the replies, I have wire brushed the chassis and can't see it in these places. I think I will need to engrave it on. It is needed for the MOT here in France. I had the same problem with my last car a Nissan Patrol.

It should be there if its an A series at least.
Where the chassis leg runs down to the front of the car under the rear wheel arch, may be waxoiled over?
