I wonder....
It might be worth a bit of research as to what exactly this "stupid fluid" is exactly. A lot of modern truck diesels now have anti pollution agents sprayed into the exhaust, it's known as AdBlue, and is basically a mix of water and urea, designed to help with emissions. MSA's will sell you a 10l cannister for about a tenner.
I did read a while ago, this was an issue with later BMW's and things, it's a consumable item, but the dealers were charging small fortune for it. I would say not to drive it until the problem's solved, cos if it's just a fluid top up needed, then that's simple enough, but I would imagine if it runs dry for too long, the filter you mentioned may be damaged, and that's unlikely to be cheap.
---Edit---
Alright, so not AdBlue, but some Pug specific stuff which will be dealer only. The expensive part will be the new particulate filter if needed.
Probably a peugeot specific forum would be able to advise if these can be obtained anywhere else cheaper.
