Hi all, I am thinking of buying a frontera, I used to own a Deawoo Musso 2.9 TD which I run on 100% veg oil straight from the supermarket, is this an option with a frontera and if so which model engine would be the best, any advice would be great,
Many thanks,
Jon.

Depends on budget and requirements. Many a person would say the SWB or LWB 2.8 TDi facelift A series would be the best (and I would agree).

Dunno about the veggie oil, but a well maintained one should see a return of around 30+mpg ... I get 35mpg out of my 2.8 Trooper (same engine). A clean one will set you back sub £1000 ... probably closer to £600 if you spend some time hunting around. The age ranges around 96-98 as smiffy says.
The Facelift Series A have the outer shell of the older squarer A series, but fashions the interior trim of the later posher B series. Also they used rear coil springs on the back as opposed to earlier pre-facelifts that had leaves at the back.

2.8 was made from 95' to96' when it was superseded by the 2.5 from 96' to 98'.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it! Me Truck

Don't buy a Dti and put veggy oil in it buddy. A quick way to kill the pump.

If you are talking about a 2.2 Dti , I wouldn't put anything in it other than diesel from a petrol station forecourt.

I must of been having a brain fart moment Dunno where I got that from .. I was probably in Trooper mode or something ... either way 2.8 for reliability ... and to echo everyone elses opinions I wouldn't run anything on Veg oil personally, especially the 2.2 diesels as the fuel pumps are delicate enough as it is.
