Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series.Do you mean which trim level ? As there is only one diesel B matey - unless you are differentiating the X and Y by the pumps
EDIT: Pitfalls - just one really. Pumps.
Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series is best.Box,sorry I ment to say which diesel engine sizes bud.

Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series engine sizes is best. There's only one mate. 2.2 Diesel albeit it with two slightly different flavours. Y22 and X22
Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series engine sizes is best.Box,could you go into more detail,as Ive never owned a diesel motor before, please.

Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series engine sizes is best. They are both 2.2 diesels. The X22dth ran from 99 to 2001 and the Y22dth ran from 2001 to 2004. the Y22 was supposed to be the more refined and had all the x22 niggles ironed out but if the fuel pump goes is a lot more difficult to replace as its not plug n play on the Y22

Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series engine sizes is best.Happy to give you what ever info you need bud. Just not exactly sure what you are after.
If I were choosing I would go for a pre 2001 X22 diesel as the pumps are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy cheaper to fix. (But still £700+) Ideally the one you would buy would have had a pump in it's lifetime with documented proof. There are a few niggles like vac pipes etc , but it's such a simple cheap fix I wouldn't say it was an issue. MAF's can also go but can be sourced second hand for £30 - £40. Crank sensors are another but again can be sourced for £30 - £40 The engines themselves are excellent and there are very few issues. Other issues are not diesel specific like calipers for example, but again these can be overhauled rather than replaced.
Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series engine sizes is best. Thanks bobbinsjob for your info.
Thanks box too, really good info from the both of you. It has certainly given me something to think about when I start looking around next year. R.I.P Sable!(2005 to 2013)

Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series engine sizes is best.I put molyslip in mine, so it now sounds like a Snap On toolset in a blender
Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series engine sizes is best.I swear by this stuff
Made my 2.8 sound like a toyota Prius http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lucas-Heavy-Duty-Oil-Stabiliser-Oil-Treatment-1-LITRE-/300523859106?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45f89e2ca2

Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series engine sizes is best.Think its 80 - 20 mix but i just put the hole one litre in
Made a big difference to the 2.8 and especially on cold start Jason was with me one day when i first got the 2.8 and i was servicing it. When i had finished and top up the oil and added the Lucas oil stabilizer he could not believe how quite it was running
Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series engine sizes is best. Will give that a go mate...cheers...

Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series engine sizes is best.Made me chuckle that, fair play
Might be worth a punt for a tenner though. You reckon it would be ok to chuck this in with the molyslip that's already in there ?
Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series engine sizes is best.Should be fine mate as you have to change the oil anyway to get the hole 1litre bottle in
Re: Which Diesel LWB "B" series engine sizes is best.To cure yours Si, from what I remember, you might need to do 50/50 stabiliser/molyslip mix and leave out the oil all together!
