Farewell Fronty

After months of scrounging around for parts, only to have my only running Frontera fail annual inspection because of oil leaks, I think I've decided to throw in the towel.

With one Fronty hemorrhaging oil from multiple locations, and the other one sitting in the garage with a completely destroyed gearbox, I've come to the end of my patience. I was told last week that the transmission repair place just wasn't interested in fixing the "b" because they can't guarantee that parts will be available. So up on ebay it goes as a wrecker.

To replace them, yesterday I wandered on down (caught the bus) to the Nissan dealership and signed the next 5 years of my life away for a brand new GU Nissan Patrol. I tried to avoid this fate, as every second car you see out there is a Patrol (the alternate is a Landcruiser), but there is a reason they're so popular, and now I've turned into a conformist.

Thanks for all the laughs and help with the cars, I wouldn't have persisted this long if it wasn't for the help on this site.

Gotta say the Patrol is a great truck, really to blame you for going for one, have had a few myself, early leafer MK's 2.8 petrols and sd33's, a couple of GQ's one 4.2td swb and a petrol LWB..

and they are awesome, certainly tougher axles out of the box than the yotas too...

Hehe, would love too but I think that I'll be keeping this one stock at least until the warranty runs out

It's really all up to the wife though and she told me yesterday that I'm not allowed to lift it, or put 35" tyres on it

Hehe, what the boss doesn't know is that I rang the dealer on Monday and ordered a nice new winch bullbar for it. Think she'll notice?

I've successfully convinced the director of finances that the bullbar is purely there for safety purposes (spent the whole weekend telling her animal road-kill horror stories) and she has allowed it to stay
