Re: Braveheart is sickFirst worry is when the engine goes bang, then after you get over that shock you worry about the cost.
With those two aspects now taken care of hopefully you can look forward to using the truck again. Good luck Keith. Kodiak Transglobe 2.0 SWB

Re: Braveheart is sicksorri to hear keith
also shane on jnl did me on £10 per head if your gettin each for that lol u musta bargained him down or maybe he got more generous in 3 months i also replaced all push rods as mines looked a bit worn think they around 5 or 6 quid each of jnl also (pity u cant get them VAT free cud save u around £130) n ure gonna need some skills to get at that dreaded exhaust manifold bolt... its 1 of them things but with 2.5 i have did a bita research and they reckon 140,000 miles is good going for these heads...as u kno from my experience thon guy i took mines too cold tested n then skimmed (not recommended) so i have 4 heads here unsure of there condition... if u need it i have the torque settings needed and correct sequence...or you can check that ford scorpio pdf on google... good luck m8 n as said get a banger to fly about in n do the job right on the fronty
Re: Braveheart is sickalso 4got to add the grand jeep cherokee 2.5 is identical head with 2 bolts for rockers

Re: Braveheart is sickEverything is ordered now and should be here on tuesday because of the bank holiday weekend.
2 mates popping in on wednesday to help me do the job. 3 sets of hands are always better than 1 I have been given a shorter stud to replace the one thats the pure bar steward to get, so it should go back together easier. (Thanks to Robbie) JNL are also going to send me the torque settings and sequences etc that i will require for the job. Now I just need to source a starter to replace the one thats shouting at me every time i turn the key. Regards, Keith.

Re: Braveheart is sickHi Kieth, Sorry to hear about BRAVEHEART:
Made Me think I might not be sure of myself in the future, as I know you keep it in good trim.. Anyways best of luck mate, perhaps the next time you write it will be ALL GOOD NEWS.. Best Regards, Colin:Wisbech:UK.
Re: Braveheart is sickSorry to hear about this Keith, I was about to say my local engine reconditioner does them at that price too, but as you have it sorted, your ok now. I agree its a bit of a blow but it will be good for thousands of miles once done. I bet either compression leakage through crack/s and or leaky valves would be causing the emissions problems for you. You will be getting the valves checked and refaced as part of it I guess so with a quick touch in on assembly you will have good sealing and max compression, ( we will have to keep an eye out for a very high speed 2.5 in the south of Scotland area now

Re: Braveheart is sickHi Mike, yeah part of the reason for going the whole hog was the fact that the heads are brand new and come complete with valves etc all fitted.
Less for me to do and quicker to get the car back on the road. I'm expecting to see lots of carbon when dismantled, going by the view i got of the inside of the inlet manifold when i had the EGR valve out. I'll keep it all photo-ed during the job. Regards, Keith.

Re: Braveheart is sickWell, all the bits arrived here today. Bloody heavy parcel bt the way.
Also sourced a starter, coming from Mike (Pot Bellied Pixle) to be fitted once it arrives. The boys are arriving around 10 am to lend a hand, but it is pee with rain. Hopefully it wont be too heavy. I'll take photos and let you know how it went. Regards, Keith.

Re: Braveheart is sickThanks guys.
We had a bit of a setback on the day that was planned for the overhaul. So now the plan is to carry out the work on wednesday instead. I'm nursing him along for now, and keeping a water container in the car just in case. I also received a starter motor for it, gratefully received from Mike (Pot bellied pig) Dave if you want to learn, you'd be welcome to come along on the day. Just let me know mate. Regards, Keith.
