Did the Isuzu MU come in LWB format or was it a Rodeo

Out of curiosity, did I see a LWB Mu flavour or was it a Rodeo.
For my sins, I was in the local Morrisons car park when I noticed a different sort of LWB A pull in.
It had one of those Japanese import wing mirrors bolted to the front, near side wing and the rear number plate was on the off side. Had a few bolt on extras - wind deflectors on all doors. The driver got out on the right hand side so I reckon it was definitely a Japanese import.
When I’ve got the correct cable, I’ll upload the piccie that I took on my mobile.

Sounds like the Wizard, it was a LWB MU
They are what the Frontera was based on under licence originally from Isuzu

Were the original Isuzu's (Mu and Wizard) all 2.8s Ste?

No they had the 3.1 in them too and some where automatic, some info about them here

They also had a 2.3, 2.8, and 3.1(V6) petrol engines as well to really confuse things

The Mu (Japan) Amigo (USA) is the equivalent of the Series A SWB up to 1998
The Wizard is the equivalent of the Series A LWB up to 1998

They then changed the names for the revamp

The Amigo (up to 2000) is the equivalent of the Series B SWB where it changed its name to Rodeo Sport up to cease of production in 2003
The Rodeo is the equivalent of the Series B LWB

I think thats how it worked ... it all gets confusing as they named it differently for each country and there are also crossovers like the TF was the same name in some places but different in others and also shared the Rodeo name

That block of info will come into it's own for peps looking at USA sites/auctions for equivalent bits and bobs for the Fronty/Trooper components. Cheers Neil

Got the IT expert on it and have sorted how to copy pics from my phone, so here is the piccie I took of the 'Wizard' I saw

Easily recognised by the chrome bumper ends ... also commonly equiped with the 3.1 Diesel. The Wizard also had the wider front wings found on the SWB Frontera Series A that flare behind the front indicator. The LWB Frontera wings run flush with the indicator.

Did they have the wider rear quarters too Neal??? Cos that would look odd with wider flared wings but with stock rear quarters...

The flare is difficult to explain. The indicator is wider. Its almost as if the Audi Quattro style arch flare extends further forward. Rancid Riches grey wing is a good example of the differences.

Other differences with the Wizard are the chrome wing mirrors and door handles (in fact chrome trim everywhere). From that picture you can also see the iconic Isuzu wing mounted mirror on the front passenger wing. The very rear side windows were often heavily tinted as well. The back window on the Frontera has the usual plastic trim at the top. Wizard's and Mu's quite often had these replaced with top mounted spoilers. Wizards are often two tone (black silver in the case of the photo above). Another really good tell tale sign is the front grill. Vauxhall used the Wizard front grill on the Brava and redesigned it for the Frontera. That means the Wizard has the recessed front headlights as per the Brava design. Cannot think of anything else apart from odd accessories that were usually in chrome.
