Where fools dare as they say.
I did some reading on the net so im curiose plus its a strong cliam on their site. At moment reckon there is a gallon of diesel in the tank so it wont be 100%. I will not put any more diesel in see how it runs after i fill up

The 2.5 is definitely not the one for chip fat, I personally would only risk it in an old Lister or the original renault 5 vans. As with all things there are those for and those against. What you cant avoid is the manufacturers opinions and if they dont know nobody does!
Bosch and most of the larger makers all say above 5% biodiesel ( not veg oil chip fat etcbut properly made bio) is not acceptable and they immediately void any warranty. I did a lot od research into this for the Indian Railways as they wanted to reduce imported oil and produce fuel locally, We did loads of tests and eventually with specially modded engines and fuel systems would only recommend a max of 20% Bio in diesel, I know Renault have been doing long term tests on specially modded wagons and they came to the same concluison.
So you save a penny and blow hundreds!!

Found that place last year (Just along from Shawfield Dug track) Its not just a case of turning up & filling up apparently they only make it a few days a week, and its sold out rapid fast with people Q ing for it. Was tempted to put some in the van but was advised under no circumstances put it in an HDi. I decided just to stick with getting fleeced @ the pumps.

He used to sell it at 80p . If it screws the pump the a lesson learned. Im sceptic as i have never saw a factual report sayin dont. Plus fuel companies wont want alternatives. He only 10 mins from me an pumps not that expensive well even better

something for you oil burners to consider. as i looked into alternative fuels before opting for a 3.2v6 on lpg.

they claim brillaint figures for the diesel cars using the kit and my daughter works for a biofuel research company and i mentioned it to one of the mad professors there and he said the sience makes sense but without seeing it action couldnt say.

but might be worth looking at as way to make those oil burners a bit more practical

the theory behind that kit is sound dean but in practice it requires more energy to release enough hydrogen to make a difference than the hydrogen itself provides

Back to the Bio Diesel posting, am running 70% Bio 30% Diesel in both my 2.8 Frontera and 2l Freelander. 2.8 has been using it for over a year and covered around 9000 miles, Freelander since I purchased it back in December has done about 6000 miles on Bio. Both of them have a high milage on the clock, 165,000 on the Frontera and 145,000 on the Freelander. Freelander has IIRC the Bosch VP37 pump with elecronic fly by wire throttle similar to the 2.5 Frontera.

Both vehicles smell different, there is a slight chip shop whiff when you follow them.

I have experimented with 100% Bio in the Frontera, only noticable difference was it was slightly more difficult to start in the cold weather, Freelander is always 70/30 mix and no starting or performance issues.

Issues encountered

Frontera: During the snow I did have the odd problem with the fuel filter waxing up, wrapped the filter with loft insulation solved the problem however my new supplier puts anti-waxing agents in the Bio during cold weather

Freelander: Fuel filter clogged up after 4 months, seems to be a common problem when switching to Bio as it cleans out the tank and fuel lines, swapped filter and no further problems

Am paying 92p/litre for Bio so saving about 50p a litre, with the milage I do it works out I'm saving roughly £50- a month, doing the maths, this year I have saved £300- to date, with replacement pumps for the Freelander running at about £100- I'm already quids in
Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one :-(

the reason why my truck broke down in the winter was down to my local garage filling the old bio fuel tank up with diesel while there was still bio fuel left in it,the fuel was too thick for the pump to draw it through, after i managed to get it to tow start i put £40 of diesel in it and ive not had a problem since,i wont be buying fuel from that garage anymore.

it ran ok first 3 mile until i got on motorway got up to 70 and was running well had slight more pull than normal as it didnt die as much at 2-2500 rpm weird any way got about ten mile an it began a gentle stutter so pulled of 5 mile up the road bought a filter an 5 tr diesel into a petrol can.

It strarted running fine so itried again an same again an pulled of an decided put the diesel in an head home it idled lumpy at lights stuttered along road ran then stuttered.. Im home now an have done 50 miles and got no where . Im going to change filter and see how it runs if it still stuttery i will get some more diesel in there or some petrol.

Took it on motorway sat happy at 70mph no issues came back same no issues..
What the guy did say is long term use can damage the rubbers inside the fuel/engine. I used 27ltrs at109p about £30 worth. plus say two gallon of diesel at 136p ltr . Unless there is rubber seal kits long term use may be pricey
