banter general discussions etc
by MasterAbacus on Wed May 11, 2011 9:00 pm
Hi guys
Im exploring the options, and considering jumping in yet another Frontera.
Its only going to be used as a toy / weekend family bus, but not sure what to go for... defo has to be LWB, just cant decide what engine to go for.
Any guidence? which models seem more problematic these days?
Ive had several 2.2 petrols in the past... so know them pretty well..

You will no doubt get several different opinions, but I would plump for a 2.8 LWB - Diamond is a nice spec if you can find one

Well it has to be a LWB to get all the boys gear in..... i never knew a 9 month old would have as much stuff....
Mmmm nice looking toy james, however, i need as standard as possible so I can add in the modifactions through out the year... the other half would shoot me if i turned up with that... my plan is to adjust slightly, and she would never know.... yeah right....!!!
2.8 is still the good old fav then..... anyone using the v6 or the 2.2 tdi`s?
thanks again

The V6 is a beast, tonnes of grunt...but juicy and can be expensive and complicated to fix if you dont get a good one... 2.2dti is still pricey as a plaything, goes well, but goes wrong better if its ever been run out of fuel...new pump is big££££
The B's are really nice inside and look neat, but budget for decent underside protection (the A series has this already) and a lift is a deffo as ground clearance is much less than an A...

as i am a 2.5 owner i would defo go for the 2.8 i love my 2.5 but there is always the problem with getting no1 injector and the multiplugs wet, also the viscous fans only needs to smell water and they explode also being the facelift the underbody protection is plastic not metal like the older coil sprung A's,parts are also like rocking horse sh1t.
