Re: Looks like I'm out for a while :(Gaskets from ISUZU, don't go anywhere near the VX stealers....
Gaskets. you know, those funny things that we stick between two bits of engine to stop them ** * ***g fluids etc all over the gaff. I fast came to the conclusion that I might need some when I swapped out the Turbo in mine, three in fact, so I tried the local factors first off. Partco or whatever they call themselves these days seemed surprised that a Frontera 2.8 TD had a Turbo Not on our system the poorly paid, under worked desk operator said..... try the dealers came a shout from out back.. Off I went across sunny swindon, even went past a couple of dealers (they didn't do gaskets, weird substances yes, but no gaskets) finally found the local VX Stealer who after a lot of umming and aaahhing managed to track down these three gaskets: V0094433605 (Turbo to Manifold) £10.70 + VAT V0094433604 (Turbo to Exhaust) £15.65 + VAT V0097041638 (Cooling Pipe Flange) £5.85 + VAT Of none of them were in stock, couldnt get the first and last ones for two days that was bad enough, but a 2 week delivery time for the other one? taking the ** * * I thought and told em. Muttering things like robbing useless gits I trotted off to work to come up with plan 2. Isuzu! Brilliant lot.... got on the phone to the nearest dealer to me (Alysbury) who was most helpfull on the phone, far more than the VX numpties (not hard to be honest, an angry honey badger on steroids would be more helpfull than them) we managed to track down these, ordered by phone, (no upfront payment required either) they were ready for collection by 9am next day and as expected fitted perfectly. 8944336050 (Turbo to Manifold) £7.13 + VAT 8944336040 (Turbo to Exhaust) £9.89 + VAT 8970416380 (Cooling Pipe Flange) £4.21 + VAT This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Re: Looks like I'm out for a while :(Well done guys!
The sound is exactly like I had, only weeks before the turbo seized completely. I think you can tell you have an oil leak in the turbo system when the old rubber intercooler piping gets soaking wet with oil on the outside. Mine has dried up nicely with a new turbo. As goes for tools I needed my trusty little dremel and nut splitter to do two of the nuts off. Sadly I got it out a little late in the process so the threads on a few of the bolts were already pretty knackered. But luckily there is just enough thread left to do the the new nuts up tightly If you are going redneck style I think for gaskets, the lower one for the oil return pipe is the only one which is really mandatory to replace to get a moving system again. It seems to be some sort of a lead gasket and it does split in two when you remove it. I had my new turbo from ebay in China. Really fast, just make sure they wrap it good, it's a long way to travel for a little turbo. If you are able to split the old turbo (i wasn't) I see they supply a replacement core for our turbo, pretty cheap. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IHI-RHB5-4JB1T-4J ... 365wt_1421 If you can afford a more permanent fix I think this one is about as cheap as it gets. Good luck with the spanner party! It's a bit too far to travel from Norway I'm afraid for me to get there
Re: Looks like I'm out for a while :(Greg - if you check out the Isuzu dealers and they come up trumps, please can you order a second set for oneself.
8944336050 (Turbo to Manifold) £7.13 + VAT 8944336040 (Turbo to Exhaust) £9.89 + VAT 8970416380 (Cooling Pipe Flange) £4.21 + VAT If you get a result I could always BACs the funds to you. Kel knows my timings. Cheers in anticipation.

Re: Looks like I'm out for a while :(Made a start today stripping out the offending turbo. I have gone down the "split it" route, which seems to be going well. I have
just got the waste gate split washer to get off tomoz and hopefully Ste will get the replacement parts on their way and I will get motoring again soon..... Ramsgate, Kent

Re: Looks like I'm out for a while :(How's it going Kel, winning?
Did you have any joys with ordering the gaskets? I'm going to ring my local Isuzu dealer (Lifestyle Isuzu) today to see if there are any issue's getting the gaskets etc. Little bit sceptical about them because they are a Ford dealership and as recently taken on Isuzu as well. They have a reputation of hard sell and expensive. As an example the 3 year service on our Focus was £210 with the Eastbourne dealership where it was original purchased, Lifestyle Ford wanted £320. Robbing stealers.
Re: Looks like I'm out for a while :(Right Kel - I've just ordered my set from Lifestyle Isuzu - what nice people
Exact money as per the listing advice - All available within in a couple of days (actually quoted next day) from Isuzu spares in Belguim. He said the Turbo to Manifold (8944336050) only showed 3 available, so if you haven't got yours I would jump in pretty quick.
