under bonnet pimp

hi
since i asm boord and have nothing to do i am now thinking about pimping up under the bonnet.

so today i got to thinking about painting some of my engine

so in my red shorty. i was thinking of painting the rocker cover and maf sensor cover in bright green, or blue. what do you think?

and i was going to get spairs from the scrappy to paint first then put them on, once i am done
and i know i have to use high temp paint

All we needed to PIMP Kels truck was a goldfish or two and we'd have a proper pimped 2.8 with underbonnet airbox fishtank...thats proper pimping that is!


But go for it Fudge...pimped engine bays are nice, but I would go with black and polished if you wanna do it...
Stuff like rocker box cover, degrease it, then etch prime and then paint gloss black, then sand off the raised bits of the alley cover with a block and increasing grades of wetndry...then finally buff the raised bits to a nice shine with some Autosol...
Will look classy and blingy...

Keep the colours simple mate, you have got loads of black bits under the hood already so blacking or polishing the rest will look good...

Saying that, from the pics of your truck in the annual thread the engine baywas mostly brown, so maybe another organic colour like green might work!

but other than that i have been very very tempted to do some glow in the dark painting. on like the fuel tank cover, and the recovert points, as it would be funny at night parked up, glowing away

Nicely detailed engine bays look good mate, not detailed with mud though...problem is if you make it nice will you wanna get it muddy, and will you wanna keep cleaning it after!

pressure washer is the answer there after i have finished for the weekend.

but im boored and need to find things to do. may even get a complete engin from my scrappy and have a tinka and see what i can do with it

If you are bored mate, why not try and get some scabby fronty alloys from the breakers and refurb them making them look new...If you cant sell em on here they will deffo sell on ebay and make you some £££'s into the deal...
Or maybe buy some buggered tank guards and cut out the rot and weld in new metal making them good...can see those flying out to...

Off topic a bit but regards to bobinsjob crank pulley, as these are a known failure on the "B"'s I wouldn't recommend a scrappy one as you dont know how long it will last.

The main detailing I do on my engine is clean a line on the header tank, brake clutch and powersteering reservoirs The rest is a nice earthy brown
