Diesel 4x4 utility vehicles over 1.2 tons unladen are now included in the LEZ so if you live down south and plan on being able to drive inside the M25 anywhere, you might want to sell your pre 2002 Diesel 4x4 before everyone finds out and the bottom drops out of the market and buy a newer or petrol powered one, you got 'til 2012.

I thought this only applied to commercials, not cars? I know my Chevybravafing is not allowed inside the LEZ, but then its got big shiny wheels so I wouldnt take it in there anyway for fear of loosing them!

Only applies to diesels anyway...so as good a time as even to shoehorn something silly and petrol in!!

I questioned this with TFL last summer when the planned changes were first announced as I only live 6 miles from the zone and often drive in it.
Greg is correct that this Chevy will have to pay as it is a commercial vehicle, but a frontera is classed as a car not a commercial vehicle and not a light 4x4 utility vehicle and is therefore not currently included in the LEZ charge.
Apparently, any possible inclusion of cars in the future is most likely to be post 2001 models only and is not likely before 2018.
For those wondering what a 4x4 utility vehicle is, a good example is a Land Rover Defender.

Dont know where you would stand with a fronty pickup though....its still a fronty, but then my chevy is PLG the same as a fronty...

Might be a plan you keep your hardtops when making them swb pickups, so it can be a car again when required...

I got hassled at the dartford tunnel in the yella fronterror cos the fella at the theieving booth wouldnt have it that it was NOT a pickup, just cos it has got a softtop and it was folded down...

Ahh missed that, the website has changed and i got it wrong and assumed they had now included all 4x4's, i knew commercials were in trouble, thats the reason we sold our B2500 and the missus now has the Frontera.

I know there are people who dont come near london, but i dunno how many years it will be before it arrives in other cities, its being caused by the EU, london is currently paying about 5 million a year in polluted air fines to the EU and im not so sure that only applies to a capitol city?
