Moving back to the world of the Frontera

Hi all, I moved away from the Frontera scene a couple of years ago and headed to the dark side and have been driving around in a Hatch Back...

However... Ive now seen the light and have decided to get back in a Frontera.

Thed 2.2dti is something thats drawing my attention... anyone any pointers as to what to watch out for on these...? there does seem to be a fair few out there for sale at the moment, cant decide of this is worrying or not.

Glad i read that, didnt relise there was probs with the Post 2001 Y22 Engine.

That does narow things down quite a lot.

Is it the diesel or water pump thats problematic on the post 2001`s?

Are they all chain driven engines?

All chain and its the diesel pump thats a problem.

X22 - £600 - £700 replace
Y22 - £1200 - £1500 replace

Thanks for that... is the >2001 more prone to fail then? or are they both about the same appart from cost?

Ill have to look up the labour time on both...

I can only judge by the posts on here , but I would say the post 2001 models are suffering more failures, but that may be because most pre 2001's have already had pumps changed.
