British Leyland used to have magnetic sump plugs fitted to their engines - anyone fitted one to their Fronty? Reason I'm asking is another thread has branched out to mention checking the contents of discarded engine oil to assess amount of wear. I would imagine a magnetic sump plug would be beneficial as it would remove some particles during the life of the oil. I have heard of some people placing a magnet inside the sump pan without any fixing other than the strength of the magnet but would be worried in case it was dislodged and destroyed the engine.

Gazzedy, I take it you just put the magnet on the outside of the oil filter?
