the golf fault code reader plug” is under the cigarette lighter Standard OBD2 connection should be a cover over it not easy to see :P

as for the Renault what model ?

I just checked Auto Date. Connection is right hand side of dash (like Fronty) if before 2002. If after then behind ashtray area.
